Finished painting the Ironclad Drake for my dwarven force. It's a "drake" since it lacks wings.

I'm not sure why there is a dead dwarf on the throne. There is space to put another character in front of him. I've got the character, and he's next up on painting.

@Kusojiji check out Reaper's Learn to Paint Kit. It specializes in some 28mm minis, but the basics hold true for any scale. Also, look up Ill Gotten Games, they make great support free minis for your printer.
Anyway, taking it easy today, gonna crank up another pot of coffee shortly.
Hi, thank you for the info! I may give that paint kit a try, but will need to get some face mounted magnifiers as even with my new prescription, still can't see squat. I have one far sighted eyeball and one near sighted eyeball.

Good Evening All. Supper tonight was great, and a lot came from the garden. The Salisbury steak with mushroom/onion gravy had Onions from the garden. The Green Beans sauteed w/Garlic had both ingredients picked less than an hour before cooking and the Caprese Salad, had Tomatoes picked last week and fresh Basil picked about 20 minutes before serving. Looks like I'll be canning Green Beans Thursday with the surplus from today and what I'll pick tomorrow. I just picked from 15' of the 40' row today and there's at least enough for 5 pints left in the fridge. I can those in pint jars since that's about enough for a meal plus a little for the two of us. Tomatoes will be canned over the weekend. Some as Salsa, some will be made into ready-made spaghetti sauce with Onions and Garlic from the garden; and the rest will just be Tomato sauce. I'm seeing about 65 pounds of them that will be ready by Saturday, and I use about 6-7 pounds per quart when canning. Salsa will be in 1/2 pint jars while the sauce will be in 1 quart jars. Best part is that it is all organic home grown with no additives.
Uh, that's not less than 95% but more like 120% haha. Good to see you are back on your feet!

All, I appreciate the help with the figurines, if that's a good word for it!

@DeaconKC - Took a look at ill gotten games. They have quite the range. They also included some painters links. Taking a look at them as well.
All I did was pay my bills, work at my job, and attend church every Sunday.

For one year I attended Narcotics Anonymous one evening per week.

I love Indian food, eat cold cereal for most breakfasts, and do not argue with my wife.
I'll give the indian food a go! :)

Evening all,

More storms rolled in this evening. They shut down city hall at 4:30 due to tornadic storms to the southwest. Another almost inch of rain on top of the 1.8 inches this morning. Power out for a couple of hours and ended up with some quarter sized hail.

TomO: kgstakes is about 55 miles to the west of me, 20 miles west of Wichita and I'm about 12 miles east, so we both may be posting the same forecast. I will say the weather is changing, we actually are experiencing fewer tornados than in the past. We, like many of the western states, have been in a drought pattern the past few years. My rain total at this point is nearly 14" since Memorial day weekend.

Found some dwarves on thingiverse and gave one a try. Came out pretty good (gud enuf 4 me). Will give painting it a go. It'll be mostly WWII battleship colors for now.

Got him standing next to one of my old pewter dudes from HS days. Size is about right.

Morning all,

Already been at it as we lost a fire station last night (computer\network wise). Dumped another inch of rain since I got home last night, make that 15" in my unofficial rain gauge. Good news is the lake my town gets water from is now 3' above normal pool and the lake Wichita gets it's water from is 2' below, but was 8.5' below before Memorial day weekend. It may be closer to normal after last nights rains.

Supposed to be sunny later with a high of 85° later.

Good morning. 69f degrees now but the high will be 71 in a few hours. Radar shows my location as getting heavy rain for the next few hours but I was just outside to empty the rain gauge of another 1/2” overnight. 5”+ for us the last 72 hours. It’s not raining here right now no matter what the app says and radar shows.

The brother is heading back to Vegas today. He has recovered well from hip surgery and is just too antsy to be back in Wisconsin. His next doctor appointment is Friday and he doesn’t need me as his g/f should be able to handle things. We did play 3 holes of real golf yesterday. Not the golf on the simulator. He has lost lots of his core strength. His doctor told us last week that is normal and his strength will return as he continues his exercising in time for the other hip to be replaced! Like me with my stroke recovery he can now hit the ball only about 200 to 230 yards off the tee, but it’s straight down the middle. He still has restrictions that should be greatly reduced after the Friday doctor visit.

When he has his other hip replaced he wants me to be there as he goes through the recovery process again. With me there he doesn’t back off his therapy sessions. No date set for that.

I’m not sure what today will bring. Terry was talking to her friend in Racine about doing dinner tonight. But I never heard the resolution on that but that normally means an overnight on the friend’s boat.

As for modeling! I did walk into the trainroom for maybe 5 minutes yesterday. I’ve done nothing but packaging and mailing things since 5/20. Still not in the mood to weather (way ahead on commissions though) or work on the layout. I will now go check out what the brother and grandson are doing. I can hear some smack talking between the 69 year old and 11 year old. They have been on the slot track since about 6:30.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 77°. Looks like the neighboring Weather Underground's thermometer is on the fritz again.

Fortunately I have my own which is showing 77°. NWS has added isolated thundershowers to today's forecast, maybe because someone noticed some on the radar. Currently one about 20 miles east and another one 40 miles north. Neither one will move in my direction, but conditions are right for one to pop up anywhere, anytime, any place.. Ten day outlook is for dry conditions with a temperature range of 75° in the morning to 95° in the afternoon. For this time in June, that's a bit warmer in the morning, but a bit cooler in the evening.

Quite a busy morning yesterday, all with medical stuff. I started by reviewing the 32 pages of documents that I was handed when I checked out of the hospital. Much was relevant, but I was mostly looking at and making notes on the newer meds, and the changes in the old ones that the cardiologist had made. After that I had a previously scheduled video appointment with my primary care doctor. He was 20 minutes late, so I had to wait on that. Then the call lasted a lot longer than planned as I brought him up to date on the weekend visit to the hospital. We reviewed all of the medication changes and he made some more and undid a couple as well. He agreed with dropping one of the BP ones and the adding of all of the new ones, but we'll review all of them in two weeks. Meanwhile I had to scan and E-mail him the 3 pages of medication instructions for him to review visually. My wife then got on the phone with him because she has been extremely ill with some kind of chest infection. He scolded her for not coming to see him until she reminded him that she was in the hospital with me! After all of that, I then had to drive to the pharmacy to pick up the three new meds for me, plus an antibiotic for her that the doc prescribed for her.
After lunch and a nap, I went to the garden and picked nearly 15 pounds of Green Beans. And I only got through about 25% of the row. Next it was Tomatoes.
Train shed took over from there for about 45 minutes of running and just general puttering around before it was time to hit the pool for an hour! I had adjusted the pool chemicals before I did the medical documentation and all was perfect in the afternoon. Next was supper prep. Somewhere in there I did the overdue bed linen laundry! All in all, a busy day and other than the garden not too strenuous.

Today though, is a definite mower and weedeater day, starting around the back porch.

Karl - Dang! It's about time for a picture or two. Looks like a neat kit. Does Medford Trains still exist? First and only time that I have seen anything by them.
Tom O -
This may sound dumb coming from a person who has done over 1000 model train weathering commissions since 2018 but who’d have thought you could paint miniatures for commissions!

What a great idea and their reasoning on the website says it all. You may not have the time or the artistic skills. I never bring up artistic skills but always mention that I will save your time for other things.
In this day and time, people will pay for anything, many who just don't want to do it themselves. There are some who may not have the skills, but I look at "no time" as a cop-out for most.
Marco - I planted 63 Tomato plants and only lost one to cutworms. Harvest, as you can tell, is going well. This after last year's tornado destroyed the entire planting...too late to replant last year.
BP meds - I was on 4 different ones, now 5. One of the old ones was dropped and 2 new ones added although one of them is only supposed to be temporary. Lisinopril is not one of them. Some names that I can remember (and spell) are clonidine and losartan. I am mainly on beta blockers and diuretics. I don't think that any of them are ACE inhibitors like Lisinopril.
Troy - Your wife's Zucchini plants are suffering from malnutrition and not lack of pollination, since the flowers are not even opening. In answer to your question, yes they have to open before they can be pollinated. That's how bees get access in nature.
If these are growing in a pot, it's most likely root-bound and/or a lack of calcium in the soil. It's important to note that a healthy plant has a root system as big as or larger than what you see above the surface. Commercial potting soils are mixed to provide quick results with lots of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. They rarely have the calcium, magnesium, boron or other needed elements. They also need to be porous enough to allow oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide penetration. Plants in pots can easily get water-logged which inhibits the absorption of these gases. I would venture to guess that even a 5 gallon bucket is too small for Zucchini. I don't know what size she's using.
Todd - The covered hopper is designed to just have weights in the two outer compartments, over the wheelsets. I added the pennies both above and below the existing weight to keep it from being top-heavy. In retrospect, I could have added two of those four on top to the bottom, but I initially didn't know if there would be enough room. Those are also on the A-end of the car. I keep that truck tighter than the B-end to increase stabilization on all of my cars.
Patrick - Despite my run-in with the tornado last year, I have noticed less of them overall. I read an article about two years ago in which the author stated that "Tornado Alley" seems to be shifting NE a little bit every year.

Music icon Sir Paul McCartney is 83 today. For you younger folks, he was once with a group known as The Beatles.
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday.

Guten Morgen meine Fruende.

80°F here already at 0800, dewpoint 74°F. Fortunately, that is supposed to be the high for today here and rain to the northwest is supposed to stay up there. I might be able to cut grass today and a couple of hours after the dew dries.

Severe possible this evening.
