It's take the dog to the groomer day. We've been going every 4 months, but the wife says we're changing that to every 2 months now. I need to choose my battles wisely and this is one I am going to concede. GP's shed continuously and we vacuum up enough daily to weave a rug.

I know a lot of you are wondering why we don't do it ourselves. Trying to get 115 pounds into a bathtub that doesn't want to go in, Washing, De-shedding, Drying, cutting nails, trimming fur around her privates, etc. It's a BIG NOPE from me. The groomer has a ramp they walk her up into the wash table. They say she's an angel for them. It's worth every penny to save my back and a couple of hours of misery.
Uh, tranquilizer? No, not for you! haha

Good Morning All!
50F @ 52% and clear again. Low 80's later today, yesterday was 85F - greater than the weather guessers guessed.

Finally got the leak test done on the Bronco last night. Unknown vehicle came down our driveway, guy popped out and started opening door and hood on the Bronco. Went out the front door with 45 and yelled something to the effect of 'Who the !@$% are you and why are you messing with my Bronco'? Brice heard me and came over in MSP uniform. As I got closer I realized that it was Wes of whom I contacted through his wife. Oopsie, fake news! Anyway, lost about 1 pound of pressure over a minute. Consensus is 'Stop Leak' should fix the issue. AC/Delco was recommended as that works better than the other stuff. So, Napa trip later, put some in and drive around town for a bit. We will see. Gas conditioner and injector cleaner have really quelled the somewhat rough idle. Things are getting better. Wes did not charge me anything, so I owe him a couple beers.

Willie: Would it not be better to put some of your pennies in the center bin of that car? Looks like from the pix, the center of gravity would be lower which should be better for stabilizing?

Grocery trek today; only going local this time for fruits and veggie's. Ran out of everything in those categories. CostCo and Chef's Store, maybe Thursday to catch up on other stuff.

The I & I war has our attention just now so getting stuff done has slowed a bit. Time for a MOAB or 3 to get it over.

GM Cooling System Supplement Tablets. They were developed for Cadillac to use on their 4100 V8 to take the place of gaskets.

Useless trivia: A friend of mine was the guy that invented that engine. He told me he originally specified gaskets throughout, and much closer tolerances everywhere. If you do those things, the engine is very reliable. If you cheap out like Cadillac, you get what they got.
And his response to the people that said how crappy the engine was, "let's see the engine you designed". That usually took the wind out of their sails.

Good morning folks, quiet at Casa de Collier this morning, worked at the gunstore yesterday, had a beautifully sporterized Mauser come in and it will be coming home with me next week. 78 here and cloudy, heading for 89. Rain is supposed to be light the next few days, good, after the monsoon of 2 nights ago left a bunch of gravel washed into the driveway from the parking area. Took about an hour after I got home to get it all back where it belongs.
@Kusojiji check out Reaper's Learn to Paint Kit. It specializes in some 28mm minis, but the basics hold true for any scale. Also, look up Ill Gotten Games, they make great support free minis for your printer.
Anyway, taking it easy today, gonna crank up another pot of coffee shortly.

Stop leak took several months for full effectiveness in my vehicle

Different problem, however, my symptom was a slow loss of coolant through an unidentifiable location.

Good morning all,
63f heading for 78 in east central Minnesota, did not have severe weather here but much needed half inch of rain.

Train shed then lawn mowing on tap.

I worked on my turntable and the Varney, made progress on both. Pics later.

Tom- I have visited several FL Wright structures. Watched a documentary about him a few years ago, his personality may be best described as a bit off center. A highly talented man, meticulously mentored by his mother.

Louis- I didn't think you would approve of those hot dogs

Kusiji- my tinkering resulted in a smoother drive train, but not quite there yet

More later, Dave LASM
I know at home I have at least 50 books on FLW about him and his architecture. When I was a kid I wanted to be 2 things, a teacher or an architect. This was back in the 60’s and I was told by my “guidance counselor” my math and artistic skills were “lacking”.

Besides seeing both Taliesin here in Wisconsin and West in Arizona I have been in at least 25 structures he built. The 1st buildings though were probably 1972 my third year of college when one of our classes at Marquette drove down to Racine to the Johnson Wax Corporate and Wingspread that he designed. That hooked me. I have regretted ever since not becoming an architect especially after learning I hated teaching 3rd graders. I have informally designed 3 of our homes, the son’s last house and the last 2 of the daughter’s places. Oh well!

Has it be re-chambered or is it original caliber? Mauser 98 family or something else? I have one or two shot out Vz24 Czech Mauser 98 rifles that I may someday get around to building something out of, and a bunch of Swede M96 and M38. I don't really want to cut those up. And some old, maybe not safe to fire, Turkish Mauser including an early model -- probably 1890 that I got as a throw in from a guy when I bought some of his Enfield rifles* when he transferred to Japan with the military. I need to find those Turkish ones.

My brother sporterized a Swedish M96. Took a walnut blank and carved his stock, cut the barrel, replaced the trigger and made it cock on pull instead of cock on return, etc. He did a nice job for his first one.

*A matching number Australian Mk III ( No1 Mk III) from 1917 and a real Jungle Carbine Enfield No 5. I don't remember the variant of Mk III it is. Probably Mk III*.

Commercial action with a sporter 30-06 barrell. Left it with some Kroil on the bolt release as it was extremely stiff to open. A gorgeous Fajen or Bishop stock, high gloss with a Monte Carlo rollover and Timney trigger. Once I was able to get the bolt out saw the bore is perfect. I have an older Leupold Vari-X High Gloss 3-9 that will look right at home on it. Thinking I might try for a black bear tag this year with it.

Good afternoon, all! Just returned from a grocery pick-up. The conductress spends an hour or more on the computer ordering what she wants, and I just need to go pick it up. I think she still goes up and down the aisles looking at stuff she isn't going to buy. I did mow yesterday, but something is wrong with the deck height. Scalped in a lot of places. With the threat of rain for the rest of the week I needed to get it done, otherwise I would be needing a baler.

Willie - good to know your home.

I too was going to cut today, but here at 1230 the grass still is wet. The Sun just decided to show its face, but it won't be dry for hours with a dewpoint of 73°F.

Tomorrow we're expecting more rain overnight and in the morning, and then a round of possibly severe thunderstorms by 1400. I guess I'll have to get a few goats or sheep.

Good afternoon to all..........

It has been sunny all morning with 103 degrees forecast by 4 pm with 80% chance of rain. It is these days that cause the grass/weeds to grow at hyper-speed.
93 degrees for tomorrow with 30% chance of rain.

I may get in the train room today and work on control panels for four turnouts with more after that. I really want to build some models but layout is first priority as without the layout fully operational, there is not much need for industries/businesses or more freight cars.

What a variety of subjects in the coffee shop.....agriculture to painting creatures from another world and stop leak to high blood pressure.

The following website has a story on "Blown Away - Exposing the wind scam". For me it is an excellent read. Self Reliance Central.

Willie........Glad to know you are OK. I've been taking the same dose of Lisinopril for over 15 years. BP is always around 125 over 76. I'm not complaining.
And the grain car looks very nice.

Everyone have a great day........John

A bit of a catch-up while I have time.
Terry -
Among the things they unknowingly hauled away was two large picnic coolers filled with my CD collection.
So, you have been friends with Murphy for longer than I thought.:(
Marlin - Loved the story of the young couple and their son.
Hughie
- Arlene won't come in the train shed for any reason. If she needs me, she'll throw rocks at the door. She thinks that it is a money pit and I have to remind her of acquaintances who gambled their money away more quickly than I spend it.
Tom O High BP has always been my nemesis. It runs in the family. I actually went from 1970 until 2005 without having to see a doctor even once, before I knew that I had it!
Karl - I think that they finally kicked me out because I bugged everyone who came into the room about it. My cardiologist already knows of my distaste for hospitals.
Dave - My wife is just the opposite when it comes to computers. I'll find her many times using the laptop, tablet and phone simultaneously.

I'll catch up a little more tomorrow, but now is the time that I normally hit the train shed which is where I am headed. Then a short visit to the pool!

Willie: Good to be home, eh?

Patrick: Nice to finish your pre-ops. Now, the fun begins.

I avoided hospitals from 1959 through 1978, when I went to be checked out for exposure, after the Haz Mat Fire. Now, I can't seem to avoid the damned things. This time I even have to attend a pre-op class on what to expect and how to prepare.

Today, I had my annual eye exam, and a new Rx for glasses. The new set will be ready within the week.

Good morning from Soldier Grove, Wi. As mentioned yesterday we are gallivanting around the Driftless area of the state. We are about 90 minutes from home but avoiding the highways will add almost an hour. Right now I think we will head home via Spring Green and wave at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin as we drive by. It might be 1/4 mile away on a bluff from the local roads we will take. Since we have both been there many times there is no need to stop again. I am a huge FLW fan!

Speaking of eye doctors, I do not believe I have shared this on the forum.

I got my first pair of glasses in 1970, age 12. Eyes got progressively worse up until about 2015.

During my 2020 exam, the doctor informed me I needed a weaker prescription.

Then at last years exam, I no longer need glasses. 20/20 and 20/25. Age 67.

No reading glasses either.

This is what I call a slow moving miracle, Praise God! I do not try to reason why.

So, what is the magic elixer? Please share!

Good Evening All. Supper tonight was great, and a lot came from the garden. The Salisbury steak with mushroom/onion gravy had Onions from the garden. The Green Beans sauteed w/Garlic had both ingredients picked less than an hour before cooking and the Caprese Salad, had Tomatoes picked last week and fresh Basil picked about 20 minutes before serving. Looks like I'll be canning Green Beans Thursday with the surplus from today and what I'll pick tomorrow. I just picked from 15' of the 40' row today and there's at least enough for 5 pints left in the fridge. I can those in pint jars since that's about enough for a meal plus a little for the two of us. Tomatoes will be canned over the weekend. Some as Salsa, some will be made into ready-made spaghetti sauce with Onions and Garlic from the garden; and the rest will just be Tomato sauce. I'm seeing about 65 pounds of them that will be ready by Saturday, and I use about 6-7 pounds per quart when canning. Salsa will be in 1/2 pint jars while the sauce will be in 1 quart jars. Best part is that it is all organic home grown with no additives.
