I like tinkering, modifying, trying to improve my stuff. I've been on a coreless motor swap out program for some of my older equipment. Some have worked awesome, some have not but am still trying to figure out why not.
There are some locomotives that don't respond well to coreless motors. Nobody can really say why, but for some reason, they just refuse to run properly with a coreless motor. Swap that for a standard can motor, and it runs great. Put the coreless back in, and immediate dog-poop operation again.

Would that be an issue with the controller? I hear PWM is not a coreless motor's friend. Also, have to ensure the motor is properly sized. I tried a 1015 motor in a Hornby 0-6-0 chassis and it seemed to run like a slug. but a 1020 works great.

@Kusojiji

I just noticed your new signature. Should that read forum instead of form?
I was wondering that myself, but I did not coin the phrase. I had an idea of what the intent was, but can't think what it was right now. Hopefully it comes back.

Sorry, not trying to be snide, but it's in the back of my mind and I can't remember. It is 0045 right now and the melatonin ain't working.

I belong to another model train forum that is so prototype-focused they make your guys seem like rank amateurs.

I think I'm in the right thread now so I'll repost.

Finally some sun this morning. Temp is nice at 74°F, but the dewpoint is 70°F, so it's quite soupy outside. If it doesn't get too hot today, it shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Expected high is 86°F.

Nothing planned for today except being lazy. Probably run trains later after lunch.

Now the clouds have rolled in once again.

Good morning, all! Happy Father's Day.

Maybe it's just me, but I was picturing Willie in his little bee costume.
And I couldn't help myself, Troy don't let Donald see that throne.

STAY SAFE

My son stopped by and brought ribeye steaks. They were huge and over one inch thick! He even brought one of his gadgets to cook them. It has a lid and cooks both sides at once. and has temperature probes. I was amazed he fit three huge steaks in it. I have no idea what it is.

When it comes to gadgets and gizmos my son has most of them. No wonder he and his wife bought such a huge house, for the two of them.

The gadget perfectly cooked my steak; Ruth Chris has nothing on this thing! I don't know how hot it was, but it was steaming! Best of all I could almost hear it "moo" when I cut it and it melted in my mouth.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing. I was full after two thirds, but I kept going! I even had a few sips of my wife's beer.

I didn't have the heart to tell him I had hotdogs and sauerkraut in the slow cooker. No problem, they will be even better tomorrow.

I'm a member of about every American model railroad forum, and your right. There are some sticky members out there.

There is one forum I wouldn't touch!

This is taken for their FAQ page.

We believe realistic model railroading pursues realism in appearance and operations in all aspects. Track is both a functional and scenic element of a realistic model railroad. So, yes, we can to one degree be called "rivet counters."

Certain brands of unimproved sectional prefab track simply do not meet the bar. We politely require of modelers whose preference is to use those brands of track (namely Kato Unitrack, Bachmann EZ-Track, Atlas True-Track and Tomix) that the rails and ties be painted, and the track ballasted and groomed for a more realistic appearance.

Legos are not considered scale model trains on this forum, and while scale three-rail O scale layouts with realistic track will be warmly welcomed here, this is not a forum intended for two- or three-rail tinplate or hi-rail enthusiasts.

One of the ones I'm thinking of has a member that models a specific city in Connecticut at 2:15 PM on July 12, 1958. Partly cloudy with a light haze, humidity 83% with a 9mph wind out of the Southeast. Visibility 8 miles. Anything less is considered "tinplate".

Wow.

I just came from that site after searching your quotes. The photos are so small I can't see any work they have done just to compare it to mine.

Good Afternoon All, from a hospital bed in Denton. While I feel OK, my BP was 171/115, pulse was 147, so we came here last night. So far the EKG was good and I have an echo test later today. Stress test in the morning. The numbers are back in line. That's all for now since typing on the phone is just not working for me.

Hope you get to feeling better and home soon. Can you send Arlene out to the train shed for the daily reports, :) :) :D 😈.

Afternoon all,

Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

We had the youngest granddaughter overnight so her parents could take a date night. When the engineer daughter came to get her, she asked if I needed help. I told her there's a screw on the blower motor that I can't get at ( Karl might know of which I speak). The '09 I managed to get at, but with the arthritis and I'm not sure the under padding isn't thicker, I can't get at. Never heard an engineer cuss the stupidity of another before, but we got it. New blower motor in less one screw. Held with 2 sided tape.

Grandaughter helped me get some beets and carrots this morning. She said she didn't know carrots grew in the ground.

Willie: Get well soon.
