I can't remember a May so mild. Has me worried what summer will bring.
Hard to say what summer will actually look like even though we are flirting with being halfway thru June.

The mild pattern will continue or we could possibly bake till October. your ifgt though, I dont remember this
mild of a May, early June.

Got spoiled all those nights sleeping with the windows open!

While we were home I had the house set to 75F, two degrees warmer than we were keeping it. I don’t know how ho the temps got but after a week I noticed temps in the upper 70s to upper 80s outside. House stayed at 75F. I turned it back to 73F a 1/2 day before we returned.

This is the energy usage of the heat pump directly while we were gone. This does not include electricity used by the radiant pumps. It’s also with us not in the house so no normal heat generation from use (no showers or cooking or people inside).

Part of the energy on the last day was bringing it down from 75F to 73F. That takes more than just maintaining. Right now it’s 88F outside per the watch. I did not check sensors yet.

Ignore the orange “heating”. I don’t think it really went into heat mode. From what I can tell the thermostat is in cool mode and. It auto mode though the controller is in auto mode. I think it’s a data error

This is the worst part of trips to Asia (besides having to come home 😜). Jet lag is much worse going W to E and I’m suffering right now. We went to bed about our normal time (which is later than it should be) last night and I slept ok. A few pee runs. I got up around 9am and have been tired but ok to start. But now at 1pm, I’m a walking zombie and have a bad head ache. I took an ibuprofen and an acetaminophen and will take a short nap. It’s late enough that the nap shouldn’t screw up the cycle and will hopefully take the edge off the zombie state and the head ache. It’s like this all the time when we return. Takes a few days to adjust. Going there is not as bad.

I had mine on for about a week now. I wasn't smart enough to do a trail run. Even after you mentioned it. Fortunately, it worked fine.

We haven't had to use the heat or the AC since the middle of April. I can't remember a May so mild. Has me worried what summer will bring.
This has been one of the driest and warmest/hot April & May that I can remember. Fires are going to come early this year unfortunately.

They are pricier than the North American locomotives and rolling stock, but not astronomical.

Prices vary widely between brands, and even between the same models between different brands.

A good running PIKO Br.03 with sound, full lighting effects, and smoke will run around $480 plus €30 to ship three-day to the States. Most electric and Diesel locomotives are less than that except in the case of some specialty locomotives like the Sud-Express Br.159 Eurodual. That runs about the same as the steam model above.

Good afternoon to all............

I survived the Sunday night storm here. Weather forecasters painted a picture of doom & gloom but only had 35-40 mph winds, some lightening and plenty of rain. No tornadoes and no hail. Electricity was off for about 3 1/2 hours but that is standard with my co-op power company. Seems all this wet weather is coming a little later in the season than usual. On average, temps are are in the upper 90s by now and rain is gone. High today is 79 with 66 for a low tonight. I don't remember when on June 11, in Texas, the low was 66 but I am not complaining. I know the heat is coming.

Condenser unit on A/C quit around noon on Monday. But due to the cool weather I put off getting parts until Tuesday. Tuesday, I bought a new capacitor and thermostat/condenser relay. I replaced both hoping for the best. Parts were $72.00 and everything worked great after I installed the new parts. What a blessing.

On my trip into town on Tuesday I was going to go to the oil change place and bite the bullet on his $35.00 charge for oil change when I furnish my own oil and filter. I never got around to doing the change last week myself and after I got my floor jack out and jack stands, I surveyed the situation and decided at age 77, I really don't like crawling around on the hard concrete drive. So I get into town and the oil change place is closed until June 13 for vacation. So I hit my local car repair garage and the owner did the oil and filter change for $20.00. He said bring my other vehicle to him and he would do the change on it for the same price. He knows how customer service works. He gets all my repair work when needed.

I ordered another BLI , Santa Fe, T1a "stealth" loco from Harris hobbies. This guy has these locos for around $40.00 to $120.00 less than any place else. I really didn't need a second T1a but could not pass up on the price. I figure if I get hard up for some money, I can always sell the loco for more than I paid. If your looking for a good deal on one of these locos, check out Harris Hobbies. Disclaimer.....I do not have any financial interest this store or reap any benefits from sales there.

CNN.................Communist News Network. Sad, many years ago they were pretty reputable but so were other media outlets.

There is an informative YouTube video with info on who is financing the the riots in L.A. Also they have info on the mayor, Karen Bass ( she qualifies as a REAL Karen 🤪 ) and her connections with the communists in Cuba in prior years. Nothing political, just passing along facts/food for thought.

Gonna do some cooking today while I'm in the mood. Burgers on the grill later this afternoon. 80/20 ground beef was on sale at my local grocery store. Hoping to get to Wichita Falls tomorrow for a haircut and a stop at Home Depot for some odds and ends. Maybe hit Cracker Barrel for something different.

Well thats it for me, probably more info than anyone cares to read...............John

Two hour nap later (2x 1 hour since I had a pee run since I took my nap right after eating and a large cocoa) and I feel much better. Still tired but just regular tired. Not zombie. And the head ache is gone. I don’t normally use acetaminophen or ibuprofen often — a few to several time a year when a bad headache appears — but today it was a life saver.

Grab a bite and then return the rental car, which in this case is a rental pickup. A brand spanking new Toyota Tacoma. Had 8 miles on it. Still sorting the temp plate on the back window Recently I’ve been renting a car to get us to the airport and back home again. With my dad passed and my mom in her upper lower 80s, we’re not relying on them anymore like we did in the past to get to and from. It’s cheaper to do a one day Costco rental. Landed last night and picked up the rental but weirdly they were jammed and had to wait in line 30 minutes. I had a medium SUV reserved. It was Budget, and the same guy running the place as when I picked up the car when we went to Japan. That time I had talked with him and told him what I was doing and where we were going. That time he upgraded me from the standard sized car to a Hyundai Sant Fe (the new spacey square ones) at no charge. Last night he said the pickup was the best he had for a lot of luggage and I said it would be fine since it was a crew cab model with 5 seats. He asked me about the trip etc.

Shows the power of being friendly with and engaging with the service people who help you. I explained to my daughter about that as well.

Agree. Had a stewardess on one of the big 3 airlines, can't remember which, that looked like she was having a bad day. We had just taken off, so it was going to be miserable. I was watching her and when she fumbled the paper cups but caught them, I gave her the thumbs up and told her good job! She started smiling and the service was better after that.

And then there was the gay steward. I woke up with a bottle of champagne next to me... haha

Good morning.

It is 0750 and the temps are at 25 C @ 86% humidity already. Guessers say cloudy with some rain with temps remaining the same. Starting to feel like a mushroom.

Just checked out Harris Hobbies. Wish I could order from them, but in big bold letters, non-continental orders click here, so I do. I start reading and am good all the way down to paypal only. So, I'm done. Strange about the VAT issue. I wonder if any other business has/had that issue.

I just changed the oil in my car 2 days ago. Like you, I decided that I didn't want to roll around on the ground this time, so I went to the auto hobby shop to use their lift. Well, I ended up rolling on the greasy ground over there instead. Couldn't get the lift situated correctly on the frame to have all 4 legs hit the frame at the same time, to prevent twisting. The auto repair shop did that to my last car and the slide door wouldn't close correctly afterwards. So after a lot of ab workout, I finally got it close enough. So next time, which will probably be next year, I'll do it at home.

Interestingly I checked the outside temp sensor hooked up to the houses system (the control panel that controls the heating and cooling). It said 100F. It’s on the N side out of the sun’s direct path the whole day. It now says 98F an hour or two later. The watch never said higher than 92F. It’s based on whatever weather station Apple gets their weather from that they think is close to my location. I believe that to be salt lake airport #2. About 4 miles or 5 miles from my house.

It didn’t feel 100F but certainly in the 90s but it could have been 100F and I just am not used to the dry air after almost 3 weeks in humidity in Japan.

I know when we moved from FLA to California it was at the end of Summer, and we went from 98 degrees and 98% humidity to 112 degrees and 20% humidity. 112 didn't feel as hot as 98 did.
I was a CA kid that went to Miami right in the middle of the Mariel boatlift. I spent 2 years sweating continuously finishing up my degree. I'd like to say I have some good memories, but there are none other than a girl friend and getting on the plane after my last final.

Good afternoon. We are leaving for the airport in a few minutes. The brother feels good enough to hop on a plane. We called his surgeon who said fine but get up and walk around every 30 minutes. That sealed it as the brother had planned to miss a board meeting tomorrow but tonight I will sleep in my own bed.

Actual flight time per an online search is 3hours 25 minutes. The pilot told my brother most likely under 3 hours because of tail winds. The Son in law will pick us up. Home will feel good for a few days.

Speaking of heat, we flew from Korea (ICN -- Seoul Incheon) to Las Vegas. (Much easier to arrive there than LAX). The pilot said as we prepared to land that it was 108F / 42C or 43C. Glad we didn't leave the airport. Though it's even drier air in Vegas than Salt Lake usually. It was 80s when we got to SLC.

Walking around on flights is good, and amazing how many people don't do it. Now, every 30 minutes is not necessary for people not recuperating but it was amazing on our 10-12 hour flights to and from Korea, how many people never left their seats (most of them).

On that long of a flight you need to get up and walk around. Helps with not forming blood clots and all that. Going I got up at least twice and each time I did 4 or so trips up and down the complete economy section (and it was a 747-8 so long plane). I would stat at the very rear and go all the way to the end of the economy section, touch the wall, and go back to the very rear, and touch the wall. Repeating that around 4 complete circuits. I may also have gotten up once or twice for bathroom break or other where I did not get that much in but still got some movement in.

Coming home I did 3 sets of such circuits though the middle one was truncated by the pilot putting on the seat belt sign with turbulence and I had to go sit down.

Also drinking water or juice (not alcohol) when they offer it on long flights is recommended for not getting blood clots. That's a real hazard for long distance flying and sitting in the same seat. Especially as you get older.
