Ah, sorry for having to go through that. It sucks none the less. Wow, with that kind of turn-over, the management wasn't investigated? Yeah, my take is that it wasn't you and the system is flawed. Retirement is actually good, no stress of the job and as long as you are financially good, then it is all good.

Although I am no longer their supervisor, I still go in and talk to the guys that I used to work with. I ask them how they are doing, what their goals are and where they are with that goal. I know what their family history is (because I asked and they were dumb enough to answer) and have a good idea of what their life expectancy is, so I kinda give nudges. Best to enjoy the time we have left. Had too many friends die at work.

Enjoy your retirement and I wish I had the space for a container like that!!

Hi. We’ve decided that a cruise from Vancouver will be someday but not on this upcoming trip. We will look for a shorter 1st cruise to start with. I’m sort of intimidated by that 6 straight days “at sea”. Maybe if Terry and I were younger we’d find something entertaining to do in the cabin but not for 6 days nowadays. Something outside Hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico and/or the Caribbean might be a better start. Thanks for the advice.

No walker for the brother unless he feels the need per the doctor at the appointment yesterday. He does though still want the harness used while walking in the pool that Medicare has refused to pay for! He said a walking cane is optional but again his choice as he really is walking straight and with no favoritism on either hip. He said use the cane as it’s an indicator to other folks to give him a little space for a couple weeks.

Just to get out we are heading to Whole Foods this morning. That will allow for some air conditioned comfort for him to walk in. He’s never been to his Whole Foods in person as he has only purchased online. So it’s a shopping adventure also! He has another 3 weeks here in the desert before he can hop a plane for anything over 90 minutes. He can officially swing a golf club today. The PT will watch over today’s swings. We both conveniently did not tell the doctor he has already swung a club. He was limited to putting but the kid brother disobeyed that one.

Ever do a name search of yourself online? I did this morning as I was introduced yesterday to a guy who I just didn’t feel right about. Seemed kind of slimy to me! So while checking him out, I checked myself. So much wrong information that really the only thing they got right was my phone number. The home address is correct sort of but actually the address was until recently was our business office. So since my info was so far off I’m not a believer in anything I found out about others. Interesting adventure this morning. Can you tell I’m bored?

Enjoy the day

Good morning all!

Going to get a taste of summer finally for at least a couple of days.. Weather guessers say 88F. Its already 71F out there.
A/C went on last night around 8pm for only the second time this year. First time was mainly to make sure it worked
properly.

Do have an outdoor project to get to today. I have to pull some weeds that have thrived out along the back deck. Better
get out there early.

Pool water as of yesterday has finally gotten to 74F. Still a little too cold for me but by this afternoon, I'm hoping to
swim for the first time this season. Don't know how long I will be able to stay in, but this will be the latest use since we
got it in 2019.

Not much else going on as of now.

Have a safe day everyone!

Congratulations on your retirement! Yeah, I don't know what day of the week it is anymore. My pill box is the only thing and sometimes I forget to take them, so am off by a day.

Am curious as to why you retired as I remember you had just received a promotion? No need to answer if too personal.

I decided to retire 2 years early after dealing with a lot of panic attacks brought on by memory issues. I was the branch head of a communications upgrade office. I started having memory issues where I couldn't remember what I did 2 minutes ago. You know the old saying about lying and trying to remember the lie. Well, no lie, just couldn't remember what I did.

So instead of remaining on the job and being a liability, I decided what would be best for me and the office was for me to leave. I'd mess up the Musk question about what I did this week or whatever it was (my buddies who are still working made reference to it, but i didn't know what they were talking about). Management did offer me to extend, but I turned them down. The 2 year early out is taking a big chunk of change out of my retirement but I know I made the right choice. Still have the panic attacks, but no major liability.

BTW, I've been visiting your u-tube site. Nice work!
A little humbling but turned out a big blessing...

I got fired! I am a few months over 67 so figured it is a good time to let go.

I had worked in this office for 18 months and my performance reviews were excellent, since I had only been in the new position for 5.5 months, they did not need a reason, and did not give one.

This job was with the planning and zoning department at my County, and I will let the facts speak for themselves,

My predecessor was only there 7 months and was fired. The previous office manager was fired after 3 months. For 6 months. We had no office manager, and I picked up most of those duties. Prior to this batch of employees, 5 people either quit or let go in the prior 12 months.

This department is fully staffed with 5 people, and much of the time we covered it as best as we could with 2 experienced personnel.

Turns out between SS and gvt pension, we can get along nicely , and I do not have to deal with drama from the County Auditor.

Other news, we are having a perfect weather day with a high of 76 and sun.

I was able to install 3 road crossings on the layout yesterday and fine tune a bunch of my ballast.

Train shed on the agenda as well today.

Thanks for the inquiry

Dave: Geesh, now you have more time with MRR. You have gotten more done with the container layout in the last .. what? year than most of us do in 2 / 3 years. Better to be humble and free than working and not free! Your wife also retired? Boy you are going to be busy doing Dave stuff. You going to add another container at some point in time? You need another sub-division ... right?

I purchased the shipping container in October 2024, about the same time I was promoted.

I borrowed $9,000 to cover the container expense, track, insulation, wiring, heat, etc and I just paid it off when I was fired, timing was immaculate!

My pace has slowed down and I am paying more attention to details, so no plans for expansion.

Thanks for following!

In thinking about it more, that's probable a wise decision if you find you really don't like it all that well. Then
your not stuck for 11 days on a dreadful experience.

There are some nice Caribbean cruises that have several ports to stop at and do activities. Plus you can find
some really good cruise deals out there.

Very mild 70°F here in Southern Illinois this morning.

I have to go outside and make an adjustment to one of my communications antennas, and then might work on my new Roco 4/4 IV locomotive.

My order for LEDs that will be the headlights and tail lights for this locomotive arrived yesterday from Evan Designs, so we'll see.

I got the grass cut yesterday so that's out of the way for another week. I have 16 pound bag of grub killer I need to spread over the yard to get rid of a couple of new moles that showed up earlier in the month. If I don't kill their food supply, they'll be having a family reunion in my yard.
Hiya! Where you at in Southern Illinois? We escaped from the State in 2020, spent 30+ years in Carterville.
Anyway, here in Arkansas, we are at 86 already, heading to 90. Supposed to start raining tomorrow for the next several days. Went to a nice dinner last night, then texted back and forth with @AuburnCentral about a package that is currently bouncing back and forth between sorting locations here in Arkansas! Gotta pick up a new float for the toilet in the Master Bath today and then will swap that out.
Karl, get well quick!

Do you have a pic of this?

At least you didn't find your name in the Obituary section.
