According to the podcast, no.

I agree with what Kari said on the pod, it would have been like dating her brother. And, if you follow the comments on various appearances by the hosts over the years, Kari was engaged, then married as the show progressed.
I remember Grant looking at them like he was the third man, just something I noticed.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who love blowing stuff up like Mythbusters

It's troy again

Well, hit the asthma inhaler twice yesterday. AQI in the area was under 70, which I can usually handle, unless it's smoke. Thanks Canada! I think your butt is on fire. ;)

Then, I had brats ready, so I fired up the grill and sat outside with it while the charcoal was smoking trying to get hot enough to coal over... so, I did it to myself the second time.

Wife made cornbread to go with the brats. So supper was yumm...

Put some paint on toy soldiers yesterday. First, a bit of intra-squad beatdowns.... the Inquisition's comfy cushions vs the Holy Flail...

Also got some of the filthy sucesh finished. My first unit of Johnny Reb are ready to have their bases done.

Still need to add a drybrush highlight to the Rebels, and the crusading knights need a dark wash followed by highlights.

If a vehicle is towed like that, does the mileage still get recorded on the odometer? Not sure where the odometer gets the reading from.
Yes, the mileage is still recorded--at least if it's a mechanical odometer. I don't remember if the electronic versions had to be energized to record the mileage. The speedometer drive is usually on the transfer case, so even if the transfer case is in neutral it will still show speed and miles traveled.

Morning all,

68° and clear, high later of 86°.

Granddaughter's team won, but since it a tee ball game with no real outs or strikes and everybody runs the bases, Granddaughter's team had 8 players, and the other team had 7, so they won. At the kindergarten level, they try to teach some basics. Kind of funny to see 7-8 kids on the field all chasing a after ball like a bunch of puppies.

Second night of home late and up early. We try to see at least every kids sports or event. The grandson is a bit harder as he doesn't really do sports anymore.

Karl: Glad all is going well.

What model and year is your LS tractor? I have a XJ2025, 2021 model and learned just today about a “weak point” in the hydraulic system.
Dave: It is an MT240E and in our 3rd season - got in spring 2023? Think that I have 70 hours on it. All hydraulic systems have a weak point somewhere, although I have not found it in this tractor ... yet.

I think if I were to do it all again, I would get a mini-excavator and either a smaller tractor or skid steer. Typical bucket/backhoe combo's are a PITA when it comes to digging a trench. You have to get out of the BH seat, into the main seat and move the thing every 8 feet or so, then back in the BH seat. Even @ 40HP you can get 'too much' in the bucket and not get it out of the ground; especially with our clay/rock soil. Oh and we grow rocks which does not fare well with any tractor. Oh well, I am not using it for $$$ production and have time. Tractor has been great all in all.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 69°, only supposed to reach 75° today with scattered thunderstorms. The NWS is forecasting a half inch of rain today, yesterday's forecast for today was 2.25", so they have backed off somewhat. Still doesn't mean that they are right. Forecast is for thunderstorms for the next five days, maybe they got Houston or Seattle's forecast mixed up with ours.

In anticipation of this weather event, yesterday I mowed the south side and the back yard a bit early since I may not have a chance for a while. As the old saying goes, "make hay while the sun shines". The Tomato harvest continues in the garden, in a couple of more days there will be enough to can the first batch of sauce. The first few batches are fun, then it gets to be a chore. But I can't remember when the last time that I bought salsa, Tomato or spaghetti sauce. And since mine is organic with no additives, I believe that it is better for us. Right now the bulk of the crop is coming from that new to me variety called Fourth of July, which I have just 6 plants; with a few Early Girls coming in. There's some huge Big Boys, Beefsteaks and Black Krim Tomatoes on their vines that will ripen in about 10 more days.

It was already supposed to have started raining by now, but hasn't. So today's task list is still open. I need to walk out and pick Tomatoes if needed, before the plants get wet. There's always firewood to gather and stack if the rain holds off any longer. It's moving north in my direction and is presently in the D/FW area about 60 miles south. Light showers could spin off soon.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to glue parts to the P2K covered hopper, and ran some more rarely run cars. One issue with the P2K car is that it is molded in white plastic, but parts of it are painted black. I am going to have to touch up many of the sprue attachment points on this one.

Karl - Welcome back. I think that we all believed that you would survive without any issues, and you confirmed our thoughts. Take care of yourself and follow doctors orders, at least for a while.
Mike - I never noticed that Scaletrains stated 3-5 days until shipping. I always got my stuff 2-3 days after payment.
Kusojiji - Here, CNN is now referred to as "Chicken Noodle Network". In 2015-2017, it was called the "Clinton News Network". Their domestic ratings have been steadily dropping during the last decade or so.
Yeah, I don't know what day of the week it is anymore.
That's why I always end my posts with the day of the week in the parting line. It reminds me of which one it is.
Tom O - I felt good paying $2.61/gal to fill my gas cans for the mower yesterday, until we went out to eat last night and the Buccee's next door had it for $2.48/gal. And they're not known for being the cheapest place in Denton.
A cruise to Hawaii is certainly the long way back to LA!
Hughie - What is the nature of that business that you posted the picture of yesterday?

Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday. Just started sprinkling.

No one ever thinks things out.
Yeah, just gotta get a girl to start crying and it makes it all true. All the scientists that are not funded by that market, state that global warming is a normal cycle, but get one girl to start crying on tv, and the funded get to be more believable. When the EPA started pleading the 5th to congress, I couldn't believe it. Since congress funds the EPA, they should have stopped funding, got a new director and got facts moving again. So sad.

Very mild 70°F here in Southern Illinois this morning.

I have to go outside and make an adjustment to one of my communications antennas, and then might work on my new Roco 4/4 IV locomotive.

My order for LEDs that will be the headlights and tail lights for this locomotive arrived yesterday from Evan Designs, so we'll see.

I got the grass cut yesterday so that's out of the way for another week. I have 16 pound bag of grub killer I need to spread over the yard to get rid of a couple of new moles that showed up earlier in the month. If I don't kill their food supply, they'll be having a family reunion in my yard.

Congratulations on your retirement! Yeah, I don't know what day of the week it is anymore. My pill box is the only thing and sometimes I forget to take them, so am off by a day.

Am curious as to why you retired as I remember you had just received a promotion? No need to answer if too personal.

I decided to retire 2 years early after dealing with a lot of panic attacks brought on by memory issues. I was the branch head of a communications upgrade office. I started having memory issues where I couldn't remember what I did 2 minutes ago. You know the old saying about lying and trying to remember the lie. Well, no lie, just couldn't remember what I did.

So instead of remaining on the job and being a liability, I decided what would be best for me and the office was for me to leave. I'd mess up the Musk question about what I did this week or whatever it was (my buddies who are still working made reference to it, but i didn't know what they were talking about). Management did offer me to extend, but I turned them down. The 2 year early out is taking a big chunk of change out of my retirement but I know I made the right choice. Still have the panic attacks, but no major liability.

BTW, I've been visiting your u-tube site. Nice work!
A little humbling but turned out a big blessing...

I got fired! I am a few months over 67 so figured it is a good time to let go.

I had worked in this office for 18 months and my performance reviews were excellent, since I had only been in the new position for 5.5 months, they did not need a reason, and did not give one.

This job was with the planning and zoning department at my County, and I will let the facts speak for themselves,

My predecessor was only there 7 months and was fired. The previous office manager was fired after 3 months. For 6 months. We had no office manager, and I picked up most of those duties. Prior to this batch of employees, 5 people either quit or let go in the prior 12 months.

This department is fully staffed with 5 people, and much of the time we covered it as best as we could with 2 experienced personnel.

Turns out between SS and gvt pension, we can get along nicely , and I do not have to deal with drama from the County Auditor.

Other news, we are having a perfect weather day with a high of 76 and sun.

I was able to install 3 road crossings on the layout yesterday and fine tune a bunch of my ballast.

Train shed on the agenda as well today.

Thanks for the inquiry!

Dave: Geesh, now you have more time with MRR. You have gotten more done with the container layout in the last .. what? year than most of us do in 2 / 3 years. Better to be humble and free than working and not free! Your wife also retired? Boy you are going to be busy doing Dave stuff. You going to add another container at some point in time? You need another sub-division ... right?
