Has anybody heard from Karl?
I've been away for a few, Isn't he doing the pre op testing and clearance for his bypass?

Speaking of pre-op....I will be undergoing cervical spine surgery sometime in the near future.....The alternative is total paralysis at some point, so the risk of this becomes acceptable, as the worst case scenario, is equal to the alternative of doing nothing. I saw the MRI, all views, It's also on the Hospital's patient portal. I can see the actual problem area. (Between the throat and where the neck meets the shoulder). Not looking forward to this.

Good morning all............

Up at 8:30 am this morning, a bit early for me but was awake so I got up to do a few things then back to bed for a nap after my post.

Some folks may remember I ordered a DJI Mini Pro 4 drone back before Christmas at a "sale price" on Amazon. The drone never arrived and Amazon refunded my money. So about a week ago I got to looking for another Mini Pro 4 and found one at a great price, again on Amazon. These models are getting hard to find and almost no one in the U.S. has one in stock and if you find one they are around $1,500 price range, way out of my drone budget. I went ahead and ordered the unit from Amazon. It was coming from Hong Kong China and shipping time was like 7 days to 31 days. Much to my surprise it arrived in yesterdays mail, right at 7 days. Ordered on May 30, arrived June 6, shipped by UPS. The item I ordered came with the carrying case, three batteries, charging block, cables and extra blades. I bought the unit that has a screen built into the controller so no cell phone required. Buyer has to furnish a 30W wall charger and micro SD card. Lots of stuff to read and video tutorials to watch before my first attempt to fly. Ordering the item from China saved me about $400.00. It is nice when things go as planned.

Nothing really planned for today but there is plenty to do.

Have a great day...............John

Karl's surgery was delayed by a day. The revised day was yesterday.
I've had to get a C5-C6 fusion for the same reasons you were given. While that seems to be holding up, I am now having difficulties with C6-C7. It sucks to get old, but it beats the alternative.

Morning all,

Went out yesterday afternoon to see 3 sections of fencing down from the storm apparently Thursday night. Didn't see it until I went to get the mower out. Then overnight another storm dumping another inch of rain and more wind. Fence breaking is getting old, but the wife reminded me it is in every picture we've seen of the house online, so it may be as old as the house (25 years). At least it happened before my knee replacement.

Currently 67 and cloudy. Muggy high of 86° later.
I just had a 25 year old section replaced. They used galvanized posts and put a cedar plank over each one to blend in. Last time we will need to do it. We get a rare wind storm, but wet & damp for months does rot stuff.

I smoked off a big turkey breast this morning. I really don't want to cook Sunday. It's supposed to be close to 100.

I always take the skin off before putting the rub on. I used 50/50 Hickory & Mesquite chips.

There's a bill currently in Congress to ban all DJI product imports. Someone thinks that they are being used to spy on Americans. It isn't supposed to apply to existing drones like my DJI Mini-2, if it passes at all! Certain models of the DJI Mini Pro 4 Mavic are not being shipped to the US.
If anybody knows about spying, its our government. While doing my search for a drone at the "right price", I found out that DJI is supposed to release a Mini Pro 5 in September. Lets hope Congress keeps cool head and they realize that by just eliminating drones of certain sizes that spying will still go on. Maybe if the U. S. would stop selling property near military bases, a bit of that "spying" might be curtailed. I'm sure you are aware the Chinese own a large parcel of land near Ft. Hood Texas.
While I still refer to the name Ft. Hood, or government in their infinite wisdom has choose to rename the post, Ft, Cavazos.

On another note, I thought your cardboard/paper building looked pretty darn good. I never expected a final product to look that good, no reflection on your building expertise, just the thought of a "flat, paper" building kinda leaves a bit to the imagination. I believe your placement of the structure also adds to its realism...........nice work.

Take care....John

Evening all,

4 sections and 3 posts. Measured out between the original posts and made the executive decision to dig new holes instead of digging out the old posts. At this point, old fence posts out, 4 sections out, 2 of which are still waiting to be dismantled. I'm reusing as many of the old pickets as I can. New posts and stringers in place. Needless to say, I'm beat. Thanks to the SIL, daughter and grandson for the help. Only upside is it failed before the knee replacement next month.

Hope Karl is doing fine.

1. Wish him the best.
2. That's what worries me. Especially with arthritis weakening everything. Not sure how this will play out. See the doc on Friday. then scheduling and clearances.....But you're right, the alternative is worse.

Man............that looks good enough to eat.
It's almost too pretty to eat, almost! 😁

That's what worries me.
Worrying is human nature, but you are in great shape, thanks to all your hard work. Try to think of how much better your life will be afterwards.

I know it is not from the Bible, but I do believe "God helps those who help themselves."

God Bless Us Everyone!

Hurry back Karl, we miss you!

It came. We’ll see what I can do with it at some point DCC wise. The goal is to give it sound. The wagons with the poo are a little smaller than I thought. I thought the poo would be the same size as on the locomotive but they’re smaller. And glued on with some cheap glue. I’m hoping to hollow one out a little if needed. We’ll see.

They come with connecting bars to couple it together but I’m not opening the small parts until I’m ready to use it.
