Good Morning All. Cloudy, breezy with occasional light rain, and a chilly 47°. Only warming to the mid-60's later today and it might drop to 40° tonight. Then back to our regular weather tomorrow, with more rain later in the week. This is traditionally our rainy season.
Mowed about 1.5 acres yesterday, more lush than I originally thought, so it took longer. Yard now looks like a hayfield with the windrows from one end to the other. Otherwise, a pretty boring day.
One further observation on the dilapidated taco trailer that we stopped for lunch at on Thursday, he accepted credit cards! I think that his two varieties of hot sauce were both made with Habanero Peppers, as they were quite stout. Even I couldn't eat the green stuff. I'll save it and blend it with water, filter it and make an organic bug spray out of it for the garden. Repels just about everything! On the subject of the garden, I was surprised by a Tomato Hornworm on one of the plants that I transplanted into the garden Tuesday! It was big enough to have been on there when I purchased the plants recently, as opposed to being from an egg laid after I got them home.
Probably won't do much outside today, too wet and a stiff north wind. I am going to have to dig out the blue jeans once again!
Project continued out in the train shed yesterday. Here's what happens when I don't remember to charge the battery in the screwdriver.
Couldn't finish this one! Had to stop...
The chain-link fence is almost completer at the home next door though.
I still need to fasten some of the sections to one another and maybe add a little weathering. Behind the church, I plan to use some fencing from Tichy.
A little more ground cover and two more driveways were also done. Ground cover is still glistening from the wet glue.
I also realized that we are in a new quarter and I should have resumed my quarterly cleaning schedule about two weeks ago! I've been so intent on this area that I completely forgot, so I will be starting that as I continue along here. This quarter's 60' of targeted layout is the second section on the lower level. That will include downtown Gainesville and the entire mostly rural town of Graham.
Mike - I think that it is a poor business decision by ScaleTrains to not equip their rolling stock with Kadee couplers to begin with. I only have engines so I don't know about changing them in freight cars. And I can only use the whisker couplers, the centering springs for #5's don't fit in their coupler boxes. While I don't consider it costly, it is an extra step that I have to take to get them road worthy. Their couplers seem to work well with each other, but do not play well with my rolling stock equipped with the Kadees. Overall, it won't stop me from future purchases.
Karl - I'm with you on Lynda Carter.
Snowman - I was a teen in Dallas at the time of the Bubbles Cash incident. It was well covered by all of the media in Dallas at the time. I do believe that it gave Tex the impetus for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, as they formed soon afterward in '68.
Everyone have a great Saturday. The rain has moved off to the East to ravage you guys in that direction.
