I am looking at a HO rivarossi union pacific challanger. I was wondering and a person install a DCC unit in it??

It can be done and quite easily. The only thing we need to know is what motor is in it? Is it located in the cab, or in the middle of the boiler? Where are the pickups? Are they on just the loco, or does the tender pick up as well?

No matter which motor it has, the brushes need to be isolated from the frame. Other than this, the installation is just standard. Red & black wires from the decoder goes to pickup. Grey and orange wires goes to the brushes, and the Blue/white/yellow wires are for the lights.

Some of the newest come DCC ready and some even have a sound unit factory installed.
