RETIRED GUY PROJECTS

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Here are photos of the screen with the functions F0 to F14 and F15 to F28. Sorry for the terrible quality, shot on the computer screen.

Now F 14 is no more "momentum on" but "half speed" which I never use.
I have the rpm keys as well and don't use them normally. I just used them to set the volume. Half speed is what I'd use for connecting up to a train. Go real slow to prevent smashing couplers. For my UK stuff, it's shunting mode.

I see, personally I adjust all sounds volume in the sound settings part, and reverbs too.
In the same part the first line is "master volume" which increase or decrease all your sound adjustments together.

Sorry for late response. My keyboard died and had to recharge.
Anyway, found this Soundtraxx video. At time stamp 0855, he talks about the speed step deadband. This is CV216 that I was referencing.
I already watched that video, it is very interesting eventhough I get lost in the explanations.
I am always amazed by this gentleman, George, and his knowledge in that matter.
Very impressive to say the least !
He also answers messages quickly, a very helpful person. You can feel the passion, I like that.

Yes, correct. I am so good to bring more confusion when I try to avoid it !
Story of my life...

Sounds like you know them well. :)
Well I sent Soundtraxx so many messages when I began with Blunami.
Answers came first from George then from Thomas who retired recently.
Beside the technical side, George Bogatiuk told me he likes my work, so I sent him some photos and videos.
He also told me that he hired a new employee named Dave.

I sent Dave what I did in response to his procedure and my resultant video as well. No response yet, though. No issues as they are probably busy.

Well, from Dave's instructions, I modified CV216 in my Athearn Consolidation, which has a Soundtraxx ECO-21PNEM Steam decoder. It used to start moving and the bell would start ringing. I inserted a 2 into CV216 and now the bell starts before it begins moving.

There is something I don't get, if you press the bell "button", the said bell should ring even when the loco is idling.
YOU decide when it starts ringing or when it stops.
Am I wrong ?

I love your video, sound is definitely the 4th dimension !

I have the bell set to start ringing as soon as the loco starts moving. I wanted the sounds to start before. There is a separate bell button.

Before I start my diesel locos I hear the engines idling. Then I activate the bell and blow twice the long horn, release the brakes and the engine revs up as I start moving.
I stop the bell whenever I wish to.
There is nothing automatic it's all manually controled.
