Train #173 (the "Federal Express") suffered a brake failure and crashing into Washington Union Station just days before Dwight D. Eisenhower's first inauguration. the locomotive crashed through into the baggage room below. Due to the imminent flood of travelers, the concourse floor was repaired... leaving the wrecked locomotive below. GG1 #4876 was cut in 2 pieces and later removed. It was returned to service and is now owned by the B&O museum.
