ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Guys,

Our traction motors are shipping this week.

There are three variations available right now:

Our side frame modifications are completed, we'll have new samples here soon. The modifications place the springs up higher so we have detail on the journals that represent the prototype version but the assembly still functions. The last two components in the works is some photo-etch and the add on details.

We have some new photo-etch lift rings inbound, and some restock on products already released.

We hope to see you at Amherst next week. We will have samples of the new electrical system for the drive and running samples.

Keep an eye on us, we have a complete electrical line up for the locomotives and layout coming out over the next few months.

A "24" discount is on the web-site right now, "24" typed into the discount code field will give you a 24% discount.

All the best,

Christopher Howard

Guys,

This is a snapshot of our truck PCB that connects the traction motors to the locomotive.

Its about 12MM X 21.4MM. What this also contains are soldering points for leds to light up your class lights, headlights, ditchlights, cab, steps, and trucks, just like the real thing. The circuits are all protected so you don't have to mess with resistors or anything, its all plug and play.

We also have an extra three pads so you can power your radiator fans! Try that with a 6 aux output decoder!

New Arrivals

Guys,

We just got our shipment of traction motor casings, the final assembly of the traction motors is in progress and orders will start going out ASAP.

MK 9011 - all posted variations are now in stock.

The electrical components for this project will have prototoypes start arriving over the next few days. Our truck PCB enables you to connect the electrical wipers and motorleads with disconnects for easy installation or removal. It also enables you to connect SMD 402 LEDs in a prototypical light profile and three open outputs for items such as radiator fan motors.

Here is a shot of the PCB silkscreen layer and solder mask.

We have two new versions of pin lifters in stock.

DP 6307 is a shorter version of DP 6301 which is more common for EMD locomotives with a 103" wide pilot sheet.

DP 6308 also is a shortened version, this time of DP 6302 for EMD pilots of 103" width. This pin lifter is seen on more recent applications of locomotives in the second and third generation.

The side-frames will not make Amherst due to the Chinese New Year but we can run our unit with the T1 samples.

We also have two more shipments of photo-etch inbound that will meet us at Amherst.

All the best,

Thank you for the support,

Amherst

Guys,

See you in Amherst next weekend. We have a Tax ID this year so there will be lots of stuff on hand including the new photo-etch parts and hopefully if I get home in time, some assembled traction motors. I'm flying to LA tonight, will be sitting in a hotel for a more few days until they hook us back home, fun, fun... It will be another late night Thursday packing for the show.

Our electrical design work for our new decoders and motor control products is going to wrap up for the first release on Monday, we'll try to have some samples in hand but the programming will not be done.

It will be a fun time, we're going to be right beside Bachman Trains in the Better Living Building.

Thanks for the support, we're closing in on 1500 web orders and there is a little promotion posted on our web-page in regards to that.

Guys,

Getting ready head out for Amherst, we'll see you near the Bachman and KatoUSA booth's.

For those that can make the show, we will have lots of inventory on hand and you can see why we're different than the detail parts tooled in the 1980's and 1990's.

If you can't make the show, the web-site has a 24 sale on this weekend.

All the best,

So is this going to be a special DCC decoder to do all the lighting features? If So are you going to have effects for the lighting so you can program the lights to flash or strobe, Etc? Or will they just be on/off functions?

The PCB you see above will go in the front or rear of the locomotve and handle all leads for the LED lighting. Resistors and diodes are built in so no more wiring head aches.

There will be a central PCB that has an MCU or motor control unit that will drive the locomotive and handle DCC command. Two versions, one for our motors and one for regular versions.

We are also working on a Sound version and both decoders have 802.15.4 as an option for wireless control.

Battery power is also possible, so you do not have to power your track.
