Hi,
We hope you've had a great Christmas and we wish you all the best in 2012. We had a surprise Christmas day with the birth of our third son, Patrick Lee Otho Howard. Things are slowly getting back into a routine but it's been busy the past week.
Here are some updates on new product arrivals and other items.
New Photo-etch Inbound
We have several new and photo-etch items and restock inbound that are due to arrive next week:
CM 0007 GP Walkway Treads - this is the common walkway area for all GP D2 based tread kits. The revision enables the treads to ship in a smaller package and brings up the quantities per sheet so we are better able to fill orders quickly.
CM 0008 SD Walkway Treads - this is the common walkway area for all SD D2 based tread kits. The fret that went with the GMDD treads has been consolidated into this new version and we also added the outline for the upright brake stand on the SD40-2W. The revision enables the treads to ship in a smaller package.
DP 6206 Batten Strips - we have revised the fret slightly to include one additional strip.
DP 6298 Drop Steps - this is a new kit that models the drop steps on EMD/GMDD locomotives.
DP 6000/6007/6032/6033 Steps - these steps have all been updated where necessary and retooled for higher quantities to enable us to fill orders quickly.
Traction Motor Covers - this is a new photo-tool that has the electrical wipers and side plate for the traction motors. With this arrival and the plastic casing production, we are able to start assembly of the traction motors to fill orders.
MK 7001 SD D2 Under-frame Bracing - we have revised this kit to include some additional pilot locations for under-frame appliances such as the sanding brackets. The kit is now tooled in higher quantities so we can keep more inventories on hand.
MK 7006 SD40-2W Under-frame Bracing - this is a new kit that is applicable for all SD40-2W locomotives. It has the correct pilot holes for under-frame appliances and the reinforcing brace that goes under the front edge of the cab.
Traction Motors
Last items - the casing production is in progress and the photo-etched electrical wipers and side plate is inbound. We also have new jigs in transit to take care of wheel placement and alignment. We are also expecting some OEM decoders set up run the motors in another week.

One of the capabilities we're actively looking to bring in house this coming year is Micro Machining and Micro Tooling geared for extremely small parts. The largest headache and expense of running a model railway replica company is finding vendors with the right equipment and who can deliver the quality required to be competitive at the right price and time-line.
