Seems an interesting way to break the time up. 1960s and early 1970s were way different than 1950, and way different than 1980.

I didn't think this would be so complicated, that is why I left my eras vague. I guess I was thinking about the buildings and industries as well as the rolling stock.

You can pick more than one, so if you are not comfortable; choose two.

It seems like most of the folks are modern that chat a lot but maybe that is just the ones I notice so wanted to get a feel for the other guys.

Thanks and the survey will be over in a week.

I'm modelling a 1930's era layout, but it's not as easy finding period items as you'd think. Transition era provides much more variety.

I'm going to model the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR around 1963 to about 1968. There WILL NOT be any pre-merger green allowed on this version at any time!

What pre-merger units were there? I know about the August 1968 GP40. I also know there was one of the GN great domes painted in the wide hockey stick scheme, but I don't know when that was. I also thought that there were some C&S SD45s that were delivered in Chinese red but were stenciled BN under the road number instead of C&S.

Same here. B&O, loosely based around 1970.

Ditto, except Illinois Central.

Question, We are supposed to be able to tell who chooses what selection, so we can see who is modelling what. How do I do that?

Just figured it out, if you click on the number of people choosing an option, it gives you every name in all the categories.

The transition era for me, 1957 to be exact. I grew up with relatives working on the railroad, and was lucky enough to have ridden in the cabs of steam, diesel and electric locomotives. These memories made it a no brainer for me. I really enjoy steam and early diesel locomotives.

I picked around 1980 because of all the different paint schemes you could see lashed up together after all the mergers.

I like it all and as for reallike the bnsf in newton amtrak sation still in use 1920, the the power shop the 1940 era. two bridges over a creek at the edge of the yard are 180 years old tbe rco power the yard crew uses is from the 80s so there is a very wide section of eras that can be used for the modern era why i don't have a favorite

I chose the depression era because I love the steamers, and I like things a little more raw and gritty as far as weathering and scenery go. I do have to scrounge a little more for period correct things though. Usually with a little kitbashing and some patience I make it work though. The people are the hardest thing to find.

I couldn't decide so I'm doing two era's with two sets of motive power. One, - 1929-1935 Two, 1935-1946 of course there can be lots of "upper lap" with steam from the earlier era although the second era is really there to slake my Alco dismel fetish. S-2's RS-1,2 and maybe an RSD. Neither of my era's quite reach my birth in 1950.
