Moved horn from the front to the rear and filled holes and sanded.stripped sills front and rear over trucks on both sides as is on the prototypes to be painted white with yellow safety striping to follow.we have 2 unites here in Vancouver bc area that are like this.mine won't have the white cab front or as on one of the units a lowered headlight.but I'm happy with that.

Nice that you caught the placement of the horn. The BN did that with a lot of their locomotives. A lot of the Montana Rail Link locomotives, which now works out of the old BN shops in Livingston, MT also has their horns moved to the long hood.

It was something that BN did to a majority of their equipment. I can remember riding in the cabs of locomotives when I was a kid riding with relatives and the horn is quite loud even if you were inside the cab. I imagine that's why the horns were moved.

It's a battle of the regulatory agencies. On one hand, DOT (through FRA) I believe, required horns to be 120 decibels, on the other hand, OSHA lowered the noise threshold. Headsets weren't enough.

Being in the cab with them on the roof, would be akin to the inside a speaker enclosure, I would imagine.
