A couple weeks ago I posted about a space to be used for a HO layout. While evaluating the space my wife recommended using a different space. I had not considered the area (just figured it was off limits) but it made a lot of sense and was going to leave the more utilized space available. This was originally me and my sons project but my wife and daughter seem to be just as excited as either of us! But before she could change her mind my 8yr old and I headed to the lumber yard! Here are some pics of the bench work. http://

The left hand end is 48" and right end 42" wide for turnaround. There are doorways at both ends restricting these dimesions from being any larger. Wanting long continous run, I know this creates tighter radius than ideal but I will have to make the best of it. A dogbone style layout seems to be in order. Here is a preliminary track plan..

Before I go any further, if it were not for forum member Tony/Wombat I would not have these. I cannot thank him enough for his assistance to this point! Quite honestly the whole planning process has been more overwhelming than ever expected and I may have thrown in the towel already without him!
Ive spent the past week or more in SCARM with these files, learning a lot and gaining confidence but unable to do anything very efficently and without experience who knows.. The elevation seems really tricky!! I feel this is probably the most important phase of a long journey and I dont want to overlook options.. Im looking for feedback or others opinions on the space..

I would like to share the actual SCARM files with anyone willing to put their spin on things? If interested PM or email [email protected]

Specifics: HO Scale, relatively modern era(last 30 years) diesels, not real long trains, want long continous run, preferably dual main line (2 trains able to run without coliding!) plan to start on top of 2" foam, would like to have a trestle (nothing enormous but maybe 6" off bench) like elevation change and a couple tunnel/mountainous areas, Agriculture is primary industry focus.

Thanks in advance!
