lasm,

That does look much better - doesn't seem to be as "bright". As you said though, that may have been the photo, not sure, but this looks a lot better ... very nicely done Sir!

Thanks, Tony--Here is a pic where I used some black paint on the EZ line. I like the looks of it, however my wife likes the white lines, says they look like "steel" to her.

Check out the telephone pole as well, I think it came out with really nice wood grain!! The electrical meter on the gas station is an add on:

Your wife "could be right" lasm :) Really like the shots, especially the last one ... excellent and the telegraph pole is up to the standard I think we have come to expect from you ... first class.

Chet, Tony--Thanks...

Now all you need is a guy-wire for every bend in the line....lol

You are right about the guy wires, nice thing about this ez line it sticks very well with a drop of CA glue and I plan on putting in a few this week!

I think if I put a drop on the end of the line and touch it to the pole, let that set then make a tiny wire anchor and stick that into the ground I can get something that looks good.

LASM excellent looking lines and craftsmanship! The utility pole wood grain looks great indeed and thank you for posting!

Thanks for looking, Yannis. I used two different brands of utility poles; model power (life like) and Rix. They both turned out nice. I painted them with slightly watered down acrylic paints and used a very light brown on the top and a small band of darker brown on the bottom couple feet.

LASM, i originally thought they were made of scale lumber (they are plastic right?), impressive paint work then for representing lumber on plastic. I ll have that in mind (the way you painted them) when i reach at this stage on my layout (finishing up trackwork now). Congratulations again.

Thanks Yannis, and yes, they are plastic poles painted, here is a photo of the product before assembly:

Thanks, Steve...Here are a couple pics of the jumpers and an electrical service meter that I added. I decided to paint more of the white lines black and guess I have been thinking this project to death.

O well, in another week I should be done with all the electrical line stuff then move on, I think I will be reworking another hillside area to add more brush and a couple big white pines that have been damaged by fire...

Here I split some of the ez line in half for the wires going to the smaller building
The molded electrical service on this Woodlands Scenics building kit has the most realistic appearance, I think...

The electrical meter on the right (above) came in a little kit pack of 4.

I ended up painting all the utility lines black (they came white) and completed the project, here are the pics:

All the photos above are the Rix poles. You have the option to put as many cross arms on as you like, however I went with 2 sets.
The bottom photo shows the model power pole with the included phone box. You can compare it with the rix pole behind it. I think they both look fine:

Thanks for looking--lasm

Nice pictures David. I can't think how many time I had thought about doing just this but I know with my big ham hocks, it wouldn't be long before I ripped everything out.

Well done.

Thanks, Chet. Now I can move on to the next project, those utility lines bogged me down for nearly a month. There is a hillside I would like to redo...

David,

The pictures look incredible! Even though the lines "bogged you down" for over a month, it was certainly worth the bog down - top job lasm.

David,

I know what you mean. Can't wait to get the "power problem" fixed with my HO layout and be able to finally watch trains go around it without something going astray. Well, that's sort of the same as you I think :)
