I love building kits...especially FSM kits. I've enjoyed everyone except my last venture, Chester Rawlings Furniture. It started out bad and only got worse. I finally threw it away (except the castings). All of the walls shrunk in width. I used magnets and weights and parallel bars to glue the walls together; three per wall and the dried with gaps in widths. The castings were not the normal great quality as other FSM kits. I just kept getting disgusted with the kit, I super braced the walls and they was too flimsy to put together. They kit looked good; but on eBay, that kit was always several hundred dollars than other of the kits. I'd glue something together, wait a few days and the walls were gapped filled...I stain didn't "take" like other FSM kits and I just stopped what I was doing and looked at my progress and called it quits last night and in the trash it went, and was taken by the garbage man this morning.
George might have had a bad day when he made that kit; but I have several other kits by him that I will do, Toss up between Crocker Bro's Feed and Ezra Coopers garage. Leaving the Icing Platform, Jamestown Water Stop, the Combination Station, and Barnstead Lumber, I think I have a few more somewhere
The only other kit I quit (but still have is) SSLtd Jennings Lumber. A lot of redundant items and if I didn't sell my Bridgeport milling machine, it would have been no problem making all the jigs.
