Hello, this is my first post. Does anyone know where I can get n-scale pilot covers for the EMD F and E units that headed up the streamlined passenger trains like the NYC ‘New England States’ in the late 1940s and 1950s ? The only thing I have found so far is the part made by Kato for their E5, but it is considerably more slanted than what I’m looking for. Thank you !

Sorry, I can't help you with n-scale. And I understand about the slant of the E5 pilot covers, because the E5's were basically E6's in corregated stainless steel for the Burlington Route. In many cases, however, the coupler covers on many of the crack passenger trains were left open, half on one side and half of the other of the coupler opening of the pilot. This could be modelled using a bit of styrene bent slightly for the curvature of the pilot. I've done this on a number of my HO-scale E and F units.
Thank you for your reply. I see that they are readily available in HO from a couple of suppliers, including Walthers, but no luck for n scale. I know I could make them on my own as per your suggestion, and may need to out of necessity.
