You people who still have eggnog around on the 5th of January might want to check the expiration date. It's possible that you're not too drunk to type, but are being affected by fever induced hallucinations caused by a bacterial infection.
If your eggnog is fresh on January 5th, you might want to consider AA meetings.
A very good point Skipjacks
I think we can all agree on one thing - DCC is old technology (eggnog or not) and, like DC needs to be replaced with something that is more affordable, easier to use (ie less complicated) with fewer components.
You guys may well be right about current companies trying to evolve a newer approach; however, their main focus is on sales which means a priority on the current technology. From the little I have seen, what is called new development is merely an extension of DCC - bits and pieces of the current mixed in with the new.
It seems to me that the OP is
not being influenced by what is regarded as current and is trying to create something that does not involve DCC thinking what so ever. To create a 'package' that does everything, a package that will make DCC redundant, antiquated, out dated and seen for what it now is - complex, expensive and frustrating. A package that will allow a model railroader to have 'something' that is (in simple terms) plug and play and that will do everything with the push of a button, so to speak.
If I am reading the OP's intentions, and ultimate aims, correctly then the only people who could be upset about his plans are those that have (potentially) something to loose as a result of it.
Unless I am wrong, there was a lot of objection to the implementation of DCC back 20 or so years, and still is in some quarters. I see what the OP is attempting receiving the same response in the beginning, but, like DCC now, will be regarded as the best thing since slice bread within a few years after it's (hopeful) inception - when IT becomes the current standard.
I guess what I am saying is that people like the OP need to be supported and encouraged, regardless of what current companies are or maybe doing or trying.
Before I get jumped all over about this, I realise that no-one seems to be objecting to what the OP is attempting, I just think he (and people like him) should be encouraged to complete what he is doing, then let the Model Railroad Community decide if it is a good thing or not, the way they did with the inception of DCC.
