Looking forward to the roads, lots of photos.
Worked on getting the Lumber yard set on the layout.I think I have it the way I want it now, just need to figure the landscape.

The new loading platform looks really good.
If you put the whole thing on a piece of plywood (1/4 or whatever it takes) plus the truck loading area the dock can be the same height as the flatcar and semi tractor trailer, and can leave a space for gutter/ditch around the road and access to lumber yard and give you more relief without much effort.
Would be fine looking as is as well...lasm
lasm you must have read my mind I am thinking of raising the whole area so the flat car and the trucks are both on the same level. I will give some thought to the best way to do it so it does not look out of place with the rest of the layout elevation wise.
Great looking loading dock area. Looking forward to seeing it when everything is "filled in" around it.
I fixed the platform and loading dock for the lumber yard the truck side and the rail side are now at the right height.I need to do a little more feathering around it but I think it is going to work well.

Lookin really nice--Thanks for getting the photo on!!
Looking good John, and even better now you have lifted the dock!
Well the lumber yard is in place.
Now I have to make a final decision as to how I am going to do my main road before I can start ant landscaping around the lumber yard.I really wanted to build the roads off the layout but I dont like the seams from using the sand paper and really dont want to buy a whole roll of felt paper and have almost a whole roll hanging around so I am rethinking the joint compound thing.I did a sample of it mixing the joint compound with black acrilic paint until I got a dark almost black color and it looks pretty good. What do you guys think.
John,
Yep, I like it. All it needs is some weathering and maybe a crack or two and it will look even better.
Out of curiosity, what did you use for your lines?

I masked off the road with tape and used acrilic paint. I have to go to michaels and get some chalk so I can weather the roads and the buildings.
Your lines look great, thought you might have used tape for them.
So today I stopped thinking about how I was going to do the roads and started doing them sometimes thinking gets in the way of doing.Anyway here they are good or bad. They are not complete yet but you guys will get the idea.
They look good to me so far John, looking forward to you getting them completed with the road side scenery to boost them even more.
