That's a great kit to weather too!
I am going to weather it though I am a little afraid of ruining it.
That looks expensive, but it sure is nice!
Not bad at all I found it on Ebay for 29 dollars new in a sealed box.
I need some opinions from you guys before I get into this remodel to deep. I finally think I came up with a plan for the coal mine that works. It includes the run around track connected to all three loader tracks. I have to do some rework of the mountain as you can see but I think it will be worth the trouble. What do you guys think if you have any better or other ideas lets hear them. Thanks guys I know I can depend on you for constructive ideas. Here are the pictures of what I came up with.
Well... I'd enjoy operating that, which is my typical 'acid test' for track design. So thumbs up here.
Ps new River mining is my favorite kit for weathering. Have fun wreaking havoc on that corrugated siding!

Thanks I do think it is going to work well.
It looks great to me as planned, I love it!
Would look great with some 100 ton Chessie hoppers in the picture when it's finished.

Thanks for checking it out. I do have some Chessies but they are 90 tonners. They will be in the first photo when I get the track down.
I look forward to that!!!
Some more progress a little work on the landscape and some plaster work on the coal mine.

Thanks for the kind words lasm I saw the tin foil trick somewhere but cant remember where. Can it be my age doing this to me it might be but I cant be sure because I cant remember how old I am either!
I did some more work on the mountain for the coal mine.
As soon as the rest of the turnouts come I will be able to finish track for the mine.
Looking great so far, I can't wait to see the track finished.
Your mountain is coming along nicely. I tried the tin foil rock mold technique years ago and see you got the same great results, makes me wonder why we spend money on molds.

Thanks for the compliment hopefully I will have the track work done next week.

Thank you. I think foil idea is pretty good. My first try was to pour the plaster in the foil let it set then try to place them on the mountain I did not care for that method and tried putting them in place while wet, much easier to fit them and actually mold them to the contours of the mountain.
Well I finally finished the track work for the coal mine I dropped all the feeder wires and the turnout control wiring under the bench but I still have to do all the hookups to the power and to the turnout controls.I will probably get that done this week. Now for some photos!
Looking good. Mountains are real nice and healthy looking.
Your use of tin foil for the outcrops certainly is novel AND effective - impressive. Everything looks good and clean and well structured ... great work.
