My new Layout

Jim hard to say time wise whats in the harbour, I say this because I bounce around, probably 20 hrs. Lots of opportunities for bridges Jim and it may happen. I will have at least one vehicle bridge coming off the hill. Ive already had some buildings in place on the hill to get a feel, I think for now I will finish it with plaster cloth and a coat of plaster to give it strength and perhaps mold in some mountains along the back.

I think it looks great just the way it is. After all, it's supposed to be a harbor, and they tend to be built in locations that don't get the roughest water. Either naturally due to being in a cove, inlet or other sheltered location, or through the use of a breakwater. Of course you will still see whitecaps in a harbor from time to time on stormy or windy days. But the nice waves you have there look seem to represent a "typical" day pretty well to me.

Thanks Bob , I'm hapy with the way it turned out, still have some none water work to do but I'll get back to it, one or two messes at a time.
 


I got the last two lengths of fascia up so it would seem benchwork is complete. I also got a good start on the hill. Few pics just to show the rather unorganized process.

Looks like you'll be slinging ground goop shortly. Moving right along.
 
Looking forward to see how things wrk out here. Looks like quite a mess, but then almost what I had when i was at that stage of construction.
 
Lookin good, Lynn; what is your technique for the plaster cloth?

I used the narrow 4" pieces that came in a long roll, cut to lengths and dipped in water before applying to the layout.
 
Thanks Rick and Chet, won't be long before I can cleanup the disaster area. I got a mess going on the floor from end to end of the layout rooms. But at least my piles of wood and foam board is getting much smaller.:D

I have all kinds of lengths and sizes , you can see a sheet I cut from the roll laying at the bottom of the hill. I don't use 4" pieces much unless its a delicate area. But I basicly do as you do , dip in water bowl and spread out. Because this is mostly done over cardboard strips and bunched paper I'll give the hill a coating of Tuf Stone which is harder than Plaster of Paris to strengthen it up.
 


Saw this on my phone last night and had to take another better look on my oversize computer screen. I think it really came out good. What a difference. I imagine that you're ready to start planting trees and applying ground cover. Well done.
 
Thanks guys. No Chet I still have a ways to go, apply some wet rock castings , bit of goop build the terrain up some. There will be a bit of a town on the hill as well.
 
Lloyd can't really say I had encounters of the third kind in mind when I built it. No goop just watered down brown paint with a sifting of fine dirt while paint was wet.
 
Well guys sorry to say but I've drawn the curtain on this show, started tearing down the layout yesterday so no more pics will be posted.
 


Wow, that's surprising, you were moving right along on this layout. Are you going to start over and come up with something new?
