I'm definitely not in a hurry to to finish this layout. There is still wiring to finish and lots of small details to add!
Montanan, I probably won't be living in the same house 25 years from now, at least I hope not!

I'm finally getting a few small details done, like the speed limit signs and vehicles on the layout. Late last night I got the wiring all ran and completed so that's done as well. The best part is that I didn't start an electrical fire lol. Electronics are not my speciality!

Progress has been slow the last few weeks but there are some big plans in the works! In about 2 weeks I'll be adding an new section to the layout and will be moving the yard onto it and along with a caboose track and engine servicing track or engine house. I've got some of the track and plywood but still need 1x4 pieces.
On to what has been accomplished...

I added some trees, they're JTT products trees, and a small little pond that's created by run off rain water. Also added some cat tails and deer as well.

I have finally bought a few vehicles and found homes for them! And there's now a port a potty at the park area. In case nature calls lol!

Ive watched Mike Fifer's YouTube video on how he made clouds. It doesn't seem terribly hard. So painting something is an option.

If you take a look at some pictures of Alans layout, you'll see how just painting the background blue makes a big difference.

I used Wlathers Instant horizons when I started my layout for a backdrop. It was fine until I finally got the last town of Logan started. I really got tired of looking at the paneling that was the backdrop. I just continued the backdrop to finally cover the last of the layout. What a difference. Even just painting the background blue would help and by working the scenery at the tear of the layout I think you'll be suprised at the difference.

You're doing some fine work. Keep the pictures coming. Wish I could find some time to get some work done on my layout. Too much else going on at the moment.

Backdrops.

Here's a sample of the difference a back drop can make. Even just a blue sky background will help.

That is some ugly looking paneling. I just couldn't take it any more.

By adding scenery details where the back edge of the layout meets the wall will help the transition.

What material did you use to put the back drop on? I was thinking of doing masonry board cuz it's cheap and then just mount that to the layout.
