Little update

Still working on my container section, but mainly working on the freight dock. Since I started on a scratch platform, decided to continue with the scratch. I wanted an undulated roof, so tried some sewing thread and seems to work. I did try on a small sample and it did look good, so hoping for the same on that section.

[FONT=&quot]I'll also be building from scratch 2 buildings and I already ordered a freight building

I started working on my cliffs, which will be done in 3' sections (modules). Much easier to work at my work bench to do so.

I also spend 3 days surfing the net for different items (electrical, scratch material, lighting etc.), but was also looking for answers as I didn't want to bother anybody with stupid questions, but I guess I'll need to ask as I didn't find them.

Where would be the place to ask so that I can get some answers as I don't think I'll be getting much in this thread? Questions on wiring, controls, switches, LED lighting etc.

Hope everybody had a nice Christmas and that Santa was generous, I know he was with me, I'm waiting for 6 deliveries......Oh wait, I was my own Santa...lol

PS. Is there a way to post more than 4 pictures per post, seen it in other threads, thanks

Someone doing Canadian Pacific! Awesome. :D Your layout is looking great for an experienced modeler and absolutely phenomenal for a beginner!! I'm excited to follow the progress.

Great looking layout, CP rail is a fun railroad to model. I model it myself modern era in BC around the Field area.

Thank you both,

The only thing I find tough, is finding rolling stock for CP, but I've got plenty of time ahead of me.
I check once a week on ebay (the only place I know of) to see if I wouldn't find something of interest

Your comments are always welcome

Unless your budget won't allow (or accommodate) new stock, register on-line for the newsletters from manufacturer's about new or coming releases. Get a "heads up". On ebay, create a search so you'll get email notification when items get listed.

Thanks jb

Been 2 weeks since my last update, so what have I been doing

I've been working on the construction of my passenger level. The left section will be where my steam locomotive will be parked with old passenger cars. They will run on Sundays for special trips (mainly a show piece). This is where my train station will also be.

On the right hand side, there will be a small winter village which will be seen by the passenger train.

This is an overall view of my phase 1

I've also been working on my mountains, cliffs, but they are a mainly in testing phase. Also tried my hand at a Laser-Art house. I painted everything, just need to do some weathering and the roof............. and lights later

I've received my tortoises but still waiting for my NCE Pro5, which should be today or Monday at the latest.

I knew this hobby was an expensive one and I made a 5 years budget to control my spending. That didn't turn out like expected, I managed to spend in 6 months what I had plan for 3 years, it's soooo easy. Few good things though, if our Canadian dollar keeps dropping, I will have saved and since there's not lots of Canadian Pacific stuff out there, if it ever gets discontinued, well, I've got them. The important thing is that I'm enjoying myself and I am.

Thanks for watching
PS. Any comments welcome

Hawke,

I am very impressed with your work sir. It is looking first class, right across the spectrum of things.

Thanks Tony,

I've been learning (not without mistakes) from all I've seen on this forum.
The more I surf the threads here and look at pictures and videos, the more ideas I get.
I've got to stop surfing for a while.... I'm getting to many ideas.

Just got back from the post office and got my NCE, now another thing to learn and play with.
Also received my miniature light posts, that's for later.

I'm curious, how many hours do people spend on their layouts a day/week?

Get used to this ... I think we all do it and just when we think something looks great, some other "Goose" on here comes up with something better that we just can't live with out.

I think we all revel in the knowledge that we all cause each other continued frustration :)

Think you'll find, have found that the NCE is not hard to pick up.

How many hours? I'm retired so I can work on the layout for as long as I want and once everything that HAS to be done is done, especially over winter. SO, to answer your question where I am concerned - if I wake up at 6:00 am and go to bed at 2:00 am (which is pretty much the norm for me) and I have nothing else to do, I work on the layout one way or another.

Another week, a bit of pictures
Thanks to the members, I'm able to advance in my layout
As usual, been doing a bit of everything

Another house in progress

Here's a picture of my 36 freight cars (12 more in a cupboard and 6 back order) for 54..... spending was so easy, had to get the wife to manage my budget...lol

Again, THANKS for everyone's help, I'll be coming around soon with more questions

One thing about our layouts is we can always find a good variety of areas to work in. Looking good.

Thank you both

Can't wait to have some scenery, not just tracks in progress...lol
Finish soldering the bottom part, now will try to wire the underneath of the tables and attach the feeders this week so I can at least run one train.

Lynn, I'll be adding another variety to my list in a week or two. I ordered a pack of non painted winter people.
