I have only made one layout, but if I ever do another I think I would like to try something different.

It would be nice to have a layout in mountians, like the L&N for example.

Also I would like one along the Florida coast like FEC with all the palms and such.

Which one to have? Why not both?

We have all seen pop out sections in a layout, I have a couple in mine, a matter of space was needed.

Why not have a layout with everything except the track a pop out?

You could swap them out, all with different scenery and industries, and store your unused sections in a enclosed shelving area.

Has anyone done this to this degree?

It sounds like a good idea to me, if you have ample storage room for your extra sections.
