It is my understanding that FORD is the ONLY automaker that DIDN'T take a loan from the Fed?
That is correct. But they took a big chance by not doing so.

That is correct. My post was a response to your post 100 where you said it was the only company. No biggie.It is my understanding that FORD is the ONLY automaker that DIDN'T take a loan from the Fed?
In some cases it is true, but the resistors are typically smaller value and much more current is passing. Since the LED's don't drop much voltage and only pass about 9 milliamps of current with a 1k resistor at 9 volts, assuming the led is dropping 3 volts .009 amps times 9 volts is .08 watts of heat. You won't even feel it. If you ever have a doubt, simply touch the resistor under load or place the back end of your finger near the resistor to test for heat.That's interesting to know, I've always been told not to place it in heat shrink... Saves me tons of time!
Interesting approach. I agree that the BEMF would be better. If for no other reason, having less components would be less troublesome. I have to say that the MTH solution does run very smooth though.You could say that, although I would call it an electro-mechanical governor. Its used to keep the motor speed set to the appropriate level in their 120 speed steps. This allows for the 1 smph changes possible with the dcs. The count also gives a speedometer read out in their handset. mth's VP Andy Eidelman (think I mispelled his name), explained it in some postings "across the street" several years ago.
Its now not as fine as the speed control brought about through the use of BEMF and the newer 128 speed step decoders. IMHO.
I resized using Photoshop elements. The original was 2.9meg in size. When uploading to photobucket the file is reduced smaller. The screen size was kept so that you can still read the text. I probably could have reduced the jpeg quality some more but the file size didn't change much.If your running Windows XP in your home computer, Microsoft offers a FREE download to resize (reduce) digital photos; the smallest size of the three choices is the PERFECT size for Internet Forum Posts and Email. Once installed, whenever you RIGHT click a digital photo, you will have a NEW option in the list to "Resize Pictures". After resizing you will be left with two photos, the original and the smaller one; the smaller one will have the same name with "(small)" behind the title.
After clicking the below LINK, scroll down the right side of the window to "ImageResizer.exe." It is a SAFE download, I have been using it for years!

The MTH is a bit toylike but it is a great engine and product for a model railroader like me. I love scenery as I have said before and I love DCC for the ease. All you guys that get into the nitty gritty details , hats off to ya thats great but it is not my cup of tea. I guess that is why I call my railroad the " ANYERA" railroad. Too many products I like. I enjoy people looking at the layout and enjoying it. I don't really care if something does not look 100% prototypical or not.
Alan;
You gotta be talking about Mr. Fiore! Wish I could play trains like he does!

demonstrating a PFM sound unit installed into a US Hobbies L&N O scale Berk for 3 days at a mall show, 9am 'til 10pm in 1974, sound units give me a massive headache after about 10 mins. I will and do install them and program them, but I won't own any. Although being able to actually "play" that whistle was neat!
I believe that Josh had said what they are gonna offer, but it still falls short of full compatibilty. As Hamltnblue has said though, you gotta have a dcs system to install the upgrade. He thinks maybe they'll do it for you if you don't own one. I think they will too, except they'll charge you for it then.![]()
Yep! Mr. Fiore it was! He and I once talked about his requirements, but what he wanted was beyond my capabilities. I'd have needed a good mini lathe and milling machine, things still on the want list!
Thought you were going to put sound in that Ps-4![]()
Hi Eric,
... Thing is, lots of us rivet counters get frustrated because we see a very good model by MTH that could be a great model if there were just a few things different, and MTH has shown that they intend to do it their way and ignore us.
