This has absolutely nothing to do with Model Railroading but I wanted to share with you what I have been up to lately.
A about a year or so ago, I purchased a Taig lathe and have been messing with it turning anything from steel, brass, and wood. Decided after practicing with it for a while I should make something.
Dug around in some of my woodworking books and found this little stool. Scaled it down and started in. The hard part was getting all the legs to match and they came out pretty good.
As the title states, I made this little stool out of maple. Put a clear finish on it and now it resides along side the other miniatures I've built through the years.

It looks good. Making things like that used to be my job but recently I’ve found the market for miniatures is very small. Now I’m considering some sort of professional driving, CDL or towncar.

Indeed, it is.
I’ve always wanted to make miniatures for a living and build architectural models for corporations but without formal schooling (at least back then that’s what they said) I never went for it. So 45+ years doing all kinds of woodworking I’m glad I get to at least build for pleasure.
Someone wants to buy something sure I’ll sell it but it’s fun and a change from model railroading.

Doll house furniture is what I've gotten into also but the pieces I make I try to do all the joinery like I do on 1:1 pieces and the time goes through the roof. Would like to try and sell some pieces but one, don't really know how to market them and two, I would probably price myself out of the market for what I would want for a piece.
So, I just build what I like and I have put some pieces out there but no response. Mostly I build them and then put them in my display case.
Glad you like what I build and I know its not railroading stuff but I just wanted to share what else I do.

To go along with the above statement that I put them in my display case here is a picture of my display case.
Oh, and I build scale horse drawn vehicles and model boats for fun too, besides model railroading.
Wife says it keeps me out of trouble.
