What's your plans with all the boxcars?
Mike: Suspect that I will decal them and put them to use. I have been collecting cars for a few years now. I only had 150 to 200 a few years ago and doing simple calculations, I look to need 500 or more. Most of the original are what I want color and date wise, so getting there.

Oh, I said "To Myself: No MORE power". Ya, you can see how that is working.

Estate Sale; Steve Wesoloski Spokane Valley Wa. Mostly NP/GN with a couple SP&s, CBQ's, Western Pacific, UP and Boston Maine. A quick check which looks like they all have unique numbers!

Also, there were almost zero 1:1 BNSF's on the way there, or back. Seen a unit coal near Rathdrum and that is pretty much it. Parkwater Yard had 6 empty A/D tracks, and the container yard ( East of Parkwater ) was a ghost town. UP near Sprague and Havana was also empty. Guess that the railroad's are feeling the pain.

A few more cars arrived yesterday afternoon. The last 4 Atlas Partition Centerbeams I ordered last week. Ignore the price sticker as I paid $33 each. Another 3 Walthers pulpcars in the WC/Procor scheme (yes more duplicates) as the WC sells like hotcakes in Wisconsin and an Atlas Covered Hopper.

Due in this afternoon from Lombard and ordered Sunday night are 5 High Cubes 60’ in various roadnames
Tomorrow per the USPS are 7 more High Cubes from YankeeDabbler ordered Sunday night
Someday this week is due in my order from SpringCreek that I did Saturday. I got an email with tracking this morning from Springcreek saying they are shipped. USPS tracking says that the label was printed today

I would like to say I’m done ordering for awhile but that’s probably not true

So include your picture and tell us about it and even give your review or reasons for obtaining the item or items

I had seen the advertisements for these, but the price scared me away. Then Factory Direct had their year end inventory clearance and for some reason these were included. Set of 4 with all different road numbers. All of them are route of the Texas Chief paint scheme on the one side.

Prototypically they fall right at the end of the time period I am modeling, so once again I don't have to make up fantasy scenarios. They are early mechanical design such that they also have ice hatches. I guess the mechanics weren't trusted? I do remember seeing cars like this in the North Yard in Wichita as late as 1972.

These are my first Rapido freight cars, so I am looking forward to how they run / roll.

Just got some small bits and pieces, these magnets are ideal for kit or scratch building, even in N scale. Just to give a sense of scale the card is standard business card size.

And some decals I need for the tanker truck I bought for the storage depot.

Think this needs some work before I can add the decals.

I saw this earlier today, I don't really need it, but couldn't resist buying this fallen flag.

Corgi Chemo. Turn those scrapes into rust.

Nice haul

How do you like those Atlas? They look great from here. Course I know you’re gonna just mess em up and make them look like they've been on the railroad for a few years.
Just out of the box.

They both roll exceptionally well. Per my scale the Atlas is 1oz heavier. The Atlas car is a bit taller than the Walthers car but I don’t know which one is correct. I dislike the couplers on both cars and they will be changed to Kadee whiskers. The ladders on the Atlas cars are exceptional, very thin and look great. The Walthers car ladders are moulded on and a touch thick. It is one of the reasons you’ll see darker kick up spray by the ladders when I weather them. The dark shading hides the thickness. Atlas has an additionAl coupler trip pin that Walthers does not include. Wheels are a wash. Walthers uses the Proto metal wheels but a plastic axle. Atlas uses a metal axle. The other details are a wash, with both cars well executed.

I like both cars. The difference between pricing is big. I paid for the last 3 batches of Walthers yellow TBOX cars $24 to 29 each plus shipping and are getting more difficult to find in different numbers. The Atlas cars were $45 plus shipping and are hard to find. Is the $16 difference worth better ladders and a trip lever that most likely will break off during handling?

If I sell them after weathering the Walthers hopefully will continue to go out the door as quick as I can do them. The Atlas at $16 already priced higher will be a tougher sell to my clientele. I will weather lightly the Atlas, add tags and custom graffiti and will put one up for sale just to see what happens.
