New to the forum :) Been out of model r.r. for a while and am jumping back in head first. Looking to get my layout up and running but have been having an issue with my intermodal crane

I have a Lionel Intermodal MiJack Crane. Most of the functions were well, however a few of them are sluggish. Specifically, moving the crane to the left and the opening of hooks are bad.

Are there any guides on how to service this item? I see where you can buy replacement gears , but it seems like it's more a motor thing.

Is it possible that it's not getting enough voltage? I am using an old transformer from the late 70's. It is only running the crane and nothing else.

Any suggestions? I'd like to get this in working order.

Thanks,
Bill

I have one and have been operating for several years. The uo and down can seem sluggish and is mostly a function of voltage. Try a 100 watt transformer with fixed voltage of 18-20 volts. This should pep it up. Is a neat accessory but prone to break the small gear on the lift mechanism. Lionel has the part #2741-325
