Layout control.... moving forward.

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Well we've been trying to figure out how to get rid of you here as well ;)

;)

....But it's clearly going to be a huge battle.

Indeed. But we seem to agree, something's gotta be done and maybe this has a chance? - I dunno, but open source, cheap available H/W etc can work.

Anyway, pending an acceptance from the OLCB Group (;)) I floated the balloon on a slot car forum. [Link below] - But how about this to illustrate the "no 'puter (or DCC!) needed" concept:

Indeed - Larger implementations will almost certainly have a laptop (or many) in use. But, how about this; Dad & son get their new set home (probably digital) and set 'er up. With this their two cars would "pair" - automatically and wirelessly - with a (wireless) controller. The lane changers could "report" their positions to the cars, and....... Now imagine if I come over and add my stuff and it auto configures! And Lord forbid that my stuff comes from another manufacturer!

No laptop required!.....

And nothing to do with DCC either ;)

Just a thought. :)

Cheers,
Ian
