Just starting out, should I start with starter set?

When I got back into model railroading, I jumped in without doing any research. Now that I’ve educated myself the hard way about Bachmann…I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Track is good enough but the switches are not great without tweaking. Do it right from the start and go with Kato for pre made track and switches.
