I painted this one;

I just finished modifying and adding Kadee couplers to these. I replace the truck on the grey one, that's why they don't match. I also see that I need to straighten one of the ladders. It's good to put up pictures. I don't know what brand these are but the seem to be similar to the Varney's I got in this lot.

They look good Hutch. I believe they are Athearn based on the end ladders. I agree with you, once you post pictures every little flaw is magnified.

I did this very old and now unpowered Athearn Hustler for my fictional shortline simply because I liked it:

A rebuild of a wrecked Proto 2000 SW9 also for my fictional shortline but in a new blue livery (intended for shop switchers and MoW allocated units):

And on the shelves, many of these were spares or repairs when I found them:

I have replaced a LOT of cracked gears over the years!!!

I like that Athearn Hustler as well. I like most all short engines.

Athearns, at least they aren't Tyco. They'll be worth spending some time weathering I think.

I really like seeing rescued locos
and seeing the odd one weathered maybe nice, and I weather anything anything not tied down
but I would not weather the majority
your preserving history, kids memories so keep popping them up
loving it

I often get boxes of stuff like this from my friend who buys estates and then sells on eBay. I get a lot of my clunkers that way. I ended up building a complete Big Boy out of this and other parts I have. Then I sent the BB to my pal in Texas who likes that UP stuff.
