I must be missing something. DCC layout. I created a small 36"x36" (in n scale) loop for locomotive testing and wired it into my DCC bus. No track connections, just the 2 bus wires. But every loco I place on it just runs and will not respond to throttle. I've created a monster. What do I need to do to make this work? Thanks.

Sounds like you accidentally connected the track to the 12v dc output.
What brand DCC system are you using?
I dont know what the problem was but solved now. I reread the loco on the programming track and now it runs fine. Must have been a gremlin.

close, the one I saw was not quite as sinister, but equally as effective.
