Interesting way to unload grain!

They filled the grain car "bin " using elevators, from the trucks, then presumably when the "bin" car was full, it would fill one sitting on the track below, when available.
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

And not really railroad related, but back when I used to pull B-trains hauling potash from Saskatchewan we built a transfer station similar to GuilfordRailman's photo to dump into single hopper trailers destined for the US. That’s a weigh scale to the right of it. I like the idea of the railcar on top, reminds me of the old coal trestles.
It would make a great layout scene, and add a little more operations in a small piece of real estate.

While travelling through North Dakota, they had an old grain car suspended over the track. Kind of the opposite thing.Saw this on Facebook. Really interesting way to model grain unloading!

I have never heard of such a thing but it would an interesting operation to watch for sure!

I have a photo somewhere of me getting loaded under such a grain car, here’s a street view of it…
