That Oregon Guy
Many of you know I recently decided to remove my HO scale layout the Garibaldi Shortline. Many of you have followed along with the process of building that layout over on my other layout thread(Linked here). Since many of you wanted to follow along with my layout journey, I wanted to give the forum a bit of an update on what is happening.

I recently posted my YouTube video on saying goodbye to the old layout(link here). It was a great layout, but it was time to say goodbye. I have been collecting Bachmann EZ track to use for my next layout, and I feel like in the meantime, I want to build a small, non-permanent switching layout(if you can even call it a layout). I am going to try to use the track that I have and purchase only a few things that I could use for future layouts.

I drafted this in SCARM just to get a sense of how an okay switching layout would work on my small 2'x4' folding table that held up the old layout.

So here you can see what I have set up so far. Yes, I kept the mountain from the Garibaldi Shortline. It was made to come out and be moved, and my girlfriend suggested I keep it just in case I want to put it into the next layout. Anyway, that is where it is going to sit. I have my custom cars that I made in another big YouTube video of mine(Linked here) set up on the layout to become part of the switching puzzle. As you can see, I don't have everything yet, and I have some things coming from eBay and Amazon. They should all be here by the 10th of May, so at that point, the "layout" should be able to be up and running. I just have an ATSF Saddle Tank as the switcher since I do not have a diesel switcher yet. I want to get one, I just have to wait to sell some more stuff on my eBay(Linked here). Once everything comes in, I will share that. Until then, that's all.

Nice little layout, should keep you busy for a while. Also good that your g/f likes the layout too.
She enjoys it quite a bit. Some of our best memories from college together were going to train events together. California State Rail Museum, Redwood Valley Railroad, Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society, Golden State Model Railroad Museum, and tons of local train shows. She is a great sport

Here is the current version of the small switching layout. This might be as done as it gets until I move. It looks bare, but that is how it is going to look for now. I am not happy with how it looks overall(I am a perfectionist after all), but I have to stop myself from putting in more work. Getting across the line in grad school is the main focus, so there might not be a lot of trains running. I have enjoyed running the little amount that I have. All of the switches are hooked up and running well. I did have to file down the first switch to make it run a bit more reliably, but it works better now. I switched up my rolling stock a bit, so when/if I make a switching puzzle, it should be easier to know which car is which.

I have been thinking about a name for the layout, and here are a few I have come up with. Let me know what you guys vote for:
- Cascade Cutoff
- Between Pines Yard
- Transition Hill
- Stumptown Spur
- Sasquatch Siding

I am leaning a bit more toward naming it something that could fit into the next layout or be a location on the next layout. Not sure yet, though. Anyway, I'll finish my ramblings. Let me know what you guys think about the name or the layout in general in the replies!
