I installed the digitrax DH165L0 decoder and got it working. Then figured out how to use the programming track on my Zephyr DCS52 to change the short address. I wanted to make it easier to program so I hooked up my laptop and installed JMRI and was able to change the long address....

AS of now I just have mobile decoding, but I would like to add lights. What is the recommended led for front and rear lights and other lights for the locos?

Thanks

For headlights, I just got some of these (1.8mm LED's with resistor pre-installed).
They're small enough so they'll fit without problems.

Upon installing and testing, I found that the "dimming" feature actually produces a very good "variation" between full bright and dim with these.

If you used the factory installed 8-pin wiring harness, BE AWARE that as you look at the harness from above, you'll see one side with 2 "P" markings. Looks like this:

With the harness oriented as above, F and R light connections are:
upper "P" - nothing
lower "P" - front switched (black lead)
Right side:
upper/middle - rear switched (black lead)
lower/middle - common wire (BOTH red leads)

You may find it convenient if you use something to slightly ENLARGE the hole on the harness for the two red leads. Otherwise it will be so small as to make it difficult to get both of them through.

Just wondering... do you have the factory bulbs in there now?
If they still work, I'd just keep using them.

my lights are currently working, just not very bright... but I also just figured how to make them come on using jmri...still need to learn how to do it on the zephyr keypad. I have a UT7 and 2 UP6s to hook up
