I have an HO scale layout and use Kato track. When I run my HO locomotive it tuns for 3-4 seconds then stops. I check the voltage on the track and it is 16.3V. So it is in the range of HO voltage.. And there are no gaps on the track. Also, I use ESU Cab Control DCC system with its bubble controller. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

kinda hard to determine what the issue might be.
What brand and type of loco?
Have you cleaned the track and the loco wheels?
My loco is a Kansas City Southern engine made by Walthers. It is Walthers Mainline
Do you get any indication of a short?
Dirty wheels?
Dirty track?
Like all have said: Need mo info. Just because it is a Kansas City Southern doesn't mean squat. Give us the stuff. What controller, what is track power to your layout, DCC in the engine controller, what? what? mo info. DCC track voltage is NOT DC or AC; you can not measure it without a scope; it is a variable current wave that does not conform to any AC/DC rules. Don't believe it at all. Now, that said, you can tell us about current that is present. That said again, is there a way to can make the DCC bus quiet and we are only looking at that specific power? Life is tough sometimes, get'r done. Ya, well you might get some learning in this - that is a good thing!

Need more info, have you tried running 12v direct to your wheels?, when it stops, does your controller short out?, what decoder are you using?
The more info we have, the better understanding of the problem and possible causes and fixes we may be able to suggest.
sounds like it -might- be time to clean your track and wheels ... it doesn't take very long at all to do this, and it would be one less thing to be concerned about ..
