Anyone know of a model of small anhyrdous ammonia tanks might be found? Such as might be located near a farming supply in a rural area? I know they are long horizontal tanks, but can't find anything resembling them in the Walthers catalog. I could make some, but can't quite figure out how to make the hemispherical ends. Googling for photos of real ones, I think the same could also apply to propane tanks, though I've seen a small, real one locally that is vertical. I've got some left-over plastic tubes from a 1/144 scale Space Shuttle solid rocket boosters, but they don't have hemi ends?

Whatever I do has to be fairly small, as I don't have much room next to the farming supply company on my pike. It would be close to a siding where everything from farm implements (on flatcars) to a chemical (?) tank car could be spotted.

Aha! Thanks for the inputs. I'll check into where I can get the propane tanks. If I can get a set, I could always cut them shorter and splice the shortened pieces, if they won't fit in the small space. That 1/64 might also work.
Thanks, again!

The same tanks can be used for both products. Early in the farming season they may contain anhyrdous ammonia and later after planting is done, they will be purged and loaded with LP.

Thanks, once again! Although I'm no expert on farming, I have had some experience with pressure vessels, and it would stand to reason if the tanks could be purged properly, they could be used for either or both. I'll probably get some of the Plastruck tanks. I just ran a bunch of petroleum tank cars up to my small tank farm on the other end of the layout. Still working on the background for the long spur at the tank farm.
