Absolutely agree. It was an act of politicans knowing better what to do instead of listening to the needs and wants of people. Very different after the Second World War where the Allies had a plan different from the crushing occupation of the Soviets plan. That Treaty of Versailles was so harsh on the German economy and its citizens it lead to WWII.
Au contrare, the QWERTY keyboard did NOT make the typewriter more efficient. The original keyboard was designed to be more logical. The problem was that the young ladies who first used the typewriter were so fast on the keys that the mechanical actuations would jam. So the keyboard was redesigned to make it more difficult to type quickly. But, people learned the QWERTY board, and are still able to type fast. Someone proposed a "more efficient" board, a few years back, but there is too much "inertia" among people who type to change.June 23, 1868
On this day in 1868 American inventors Christopher Latham Sholes, Samuel W. Soulé, and Carlos Glidden were granted a patent for the first typewriter. The concept was revolutionary, and within a few years the typewriter—and its efficient QWERTY keyboard—had become an indispensable office tool and a fixture in the literary world.

When typewriters were first introduced, a typed letter was considered okay for business, but if you were writing a social letter to someone, it was considered rude to type it...indicating you were too lazy to hand write. When computers were first introduced, along with dot-matrix printers, which you could tell were not from typewriters, the same thing happened. Better printers, either inkjet or laser look like typewriter printing, so nobody cares. Ah, progress...
Yeah, that makes sense. I guess statistically, there would be less jammable combinations. I haven't timed myself lately, but I used to be able to type pretty quick.the mechanical actuations would jam
