photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.
I was a member for a year, but I didn't get much out of it. There used to be a great forum online for missileers, but I don't think it operates any longer.
My team never RON'ed. Unless you were going to HOTEL flight or another southern flight on a big job like a motor generator swap, your chances of RONning were slim. At least in EMT. Not sure about the other shops.
Since Malmstrom was/is the most spread out of the MM bases, if you went 163 miles East to Oscar-3 at 55mph in a T-van, it could take four hours each way, plus whatever time it took on-site. With 16 hr. timelines, your chances of getting back to base were slim. Usually wound up at Oscar-1 or Mike-1.
Keep 'em green!

Did they have places for you to stay at all over the base?
Each LCF had a topside building that housed the security controller, the elevator down to the LCC, a kitchen, day room, and individual rooms for airmen staying over night.
The only LCF located
on a base was Whiteman AFB. All other LCFs were remote locations. OSCAR-01 was the only site you knew you would
never have to RON from.

The last day of work for Santafewillie, who retired after 43 years at the same company. Never looked back!
My Great Uncle did that much time at one business before retirement too. He worked at one of the only stencil manufacturers in the entire US. The other stencil business was about 3/4 of a mile away. Marsh Stencil & Machine Company. He was a master machinist. Had all sorts of lathes, mills, and other assorted power tools in his garage. The man could make nearly anything made out of metal.
Not many workers stay with the same company for a lifetime any longer.

Following Peace Day celebrations marking the end of World War I, ex-servicemen, unhappy with unemployment and other grievances, rioted and burn down Luton Town Hall. During the riot people broke into Farmers Music Shop and dragged pianos into the streets for dancing and singing, including, ironically 'Keep the home fires burning'. The mayor at the time, Henry Impey was smuggled out of Luton never to return.
