I got the same look at Lowes asking for rust spray paint.
Heck, I got that look when I asked for dark brown. They said they didn't have dark brown. I said, just add some black to brown. They said, they didn't have brown. WHAT!!! It was sand pebble, coffee, burnt something, something, ..... WHERE's BROWN!!! :D

HINT: When using dirt dirt, I have found that brushing the glue/water copiously onto the surface first and then sprinkling the dirt through a sifter keeps the dirt from puddling. When the first application is near dry, add more dirt for depth and texture. Then wet with alcohol and apply glue/water to the new dirt. By having the first layer, the dirt doesn't shift around and stays in place.
