Hi, I am building a freelanced narrow gauge layout based in my home state of Maryland, called the Catoctin & Deep Creek Railroad. I need help in many ways in coming up with this, as I just only made some history for the line, and would like to start by collecting. My first question is, what should I do? HON3 or HON30? Which one is better, and why? My second question (or well, request) is what locomotives should I use? I want this to be as realistic as possible, so anything would help. I want to develop a somewhat realistic locomotive roster to the late 1920's-late 1930's, and what would an average narrow gauge railroad hauling coal, iron ore, logs, passenger, general freight, etc. Anything helps, and would be greatly appreciated. I am on a budget, since I'm only 19 years old but have always been intrigued by narrow guage railroading. (In other words, I cannot afford the best-of-the-best brass models, lol)
