Help with Bachman N scale 0-6-0 Motor Replacement

I have an N scale Bachman 0-6-0 that came with the older style motor. I wanted to get the new style motor both because it would look better and because it may perform slightly better. Upon getting the new motor though, I was unable to install it in the locomotive. It does not sit flush with the frame as shown in the product images of the complete frame, and I can't see any way to secure it so that it doesn't move around while in operation. I also don't know how the contacts are supposed to be connected.

Does anyone know if such a conversion is possible? Or has the frame been modified between the new and old versions so that the new motor cannot fit onto the old frame?

If you have a Bachman 0-6-0 with the new motor, could you disassemble it and send pictures of how the motor is mounted and what the halves of the frame look like? It would be greatly appreciated.

There have been many changes to those engines over the decades they've been produced. It's probably best at this point to source a complete engine and be done with it, unless it has some sentimental value to it, like it was your first train from when you were a kid, or your parents gave it to you for Christmas.

I won't even guess at the chances of somebody just randomly tearing an operating locomotive apart just to take pictures for you to look at. You may find exploded diagrams online with a Google search.
