N scale experimenter
Just joined since I recently pulled my old railroad stuff out. When I was real young (about 10) I started to build a 4x8 ft HO layout with my fathers old railroad equipment. Only got as far as laying the track and a few other things cause I had no money and no info on how to do it.

A few years later I got into N scale and started a smaller layout( about 2.5 x 3 ft) Got a bit further on that one with some terrain, a tunnel with homemade tunnel portal(not sure on the name),the track, and bridge. Once again I didn't have any money so I made everything except the track and the two train cars and one Lifelike SD7 engine I bought. That eventually fell to the wayside as well.

Just the other day I pulled out my train stuff again. I have a tendency to just drop something and move on so it took me all day to find almost all the pieces to it and I found the engine in an race car I had made. Got it soldered back together and cleaned up. I had painted the shell sometime along the line and am stripping it to repaint with an airbrush so the details aren't hidden. I had painted it with unthinned paint and a brush. I am still missing one of the weights, a piece of the shell, the light and some pickup parts. It works well though, as is.

I just put together another table to start building a small N scale layout again. It's 29" x 47" 3/4 plywood on a 4" x 1" frame.(just some scrap found laying around) I plan on splitting it down the middle with two different scenes on each side, small yard on one side and a small populated area on the other with a small siding. If I start small I think I might keep with it.

I looked around online for some info and come across this site. I joined to subscribe to same amazing threads and to ask a few questions.
Thanks
Tucker

Hello Tucker and welcome to the forum,

There is plenty of great guys and gals on here to help you in whatever way you might need. As you probably already there is quite decent number of others in N scale on here too so you'll find a lot of common ground. Having scratch built various things in the past you can also very probably offer various tips and hints too, we are all learning. That's the neat thing about this hobby is all the info you can pick-up about a variety of subjects!

Again welcome and enjoy site. Also stop in at the ANPL Coffee Shop down the listings and say Hi too.

I also wanted to mention that I was born on Long Island but the folks moved to Calif. when I was just 9 months old so I don't know much of the area. I had a supplier in the Buffalo area though.
