Hawks NEW "MHO Junction" layout

Been working on my Flour Mill building for the last week.

I didn't want to have the "out of the box" look, I wanted a different look so here's the almost final look.
I still need to do the weathering and a bit of scenery as it will be put in place with the scenery around the building done.
I also did all my lighting for when it's night time on my layout.

Lloyd - the layout looks great! And so does the flour mill - the brick really sets it off.

The "green screen" effect in your video is also cool - what software did you use?

Thanks Gary,

The software is Camtasia Studio 8
I've had it for about 3-4 years and barely used it until now
Great and easy tool to use to make videos

Saw a few photos on the phone Lloyd. Had to check them out again on the laptop. Not home at the moment. The mill looks fantastic. Well done.

Another day, another building.
This was a feed mill building which was sold and converted to JAG outdoor wooden furniture which sells picnic tables, lawn chairs, etc.
Much much later, I`ll be finishing the scenery with people, grass, junk, etc.

It's been a month since my last update, but unfortunately, not much can be said

Besides the 2 buildings I've posted in earlier posts, I finished drilling all the holes for the turnouts. Now I need to install 23 tortoises, well 21 since I already did 2. I'll be wiring Card Edge Connectors so that it will be easier to connect to the tortoises instead of soldering all the tortoises. I encountered my first problem with EBay, never got those connectors I paid for, but EBay reimbursed me, so now I need to find another supplier.

I've also finished the top part of the layout, so now I can start working on installing those RGB LED Strips

I've been working on my cement industry but had stop while waiting for trucks to arrive so I could finish how the layout would look like. You know me by now, I don't like building stuff that looks like the picture on the box.

Still working on soldering the feeders to the track. I've prepared all my terminal strips for my feeders, that way all I have to do is screw it in.

For the next couple of weeks, I'll still be working on the cement factory, feeders, cement base for the container yard and the lights in the top of the layout.

I decided to attach the wires of my control to the end of the layout to see if everything was ok ........... and it was, so enjoy a little video of my Canadian Pacific Alco-S2

You are making good progress Lloyd and its looking really nice . I have one of those Atlas S-2's and I really like it . It is smooth running with great low speed performance and the sound is cool !!

Coming along nicely for sure. Do you have a plan for scenery between the track and backdrop on your long wall. I'm working on the same kind of spot right now and still scratching my head. I'm leaning towards just some weeds and underbrush as I don't think I'll have the space for trees.

Thanks Jim, Got 3 of them and also love them, great sound and smooth running like you said

Thanks roof, weeds and underbrush it shall be plus a thin forest backdrop, not much room

I hot glued angled pieces of foam right to the backdrop and filled the gap with plaster cloth. Not sure how it's going to turn out but is my only idea. I tried to leave a small ditch along the roadbed for drainage reasons that most modelers seem to overlook.

Looking good Lloyd. When I install my tortoises I use the Velcro , put one half on the tortoise and the other on the underside of the benchwork, I can then twist and tweak for best action placement then put the 4 screws in place when it's all good. My memory sucks so can't recall where I got my edge connectors, perhaps someone else can make a suggestion. If you belong to a yahoo group like digitrax or dcceveryone ,they can for sure tell you.

Here's what I did to try to blend in a narrow strip into the backdrop. Put in some bushes and a couple of trees.

The layout is looking great. That's some very nice work. I'm really looking forward to what comes next. Very impressive.

Thanks Lynn, the Velcro bit I had heard of, but completely forgot, thanks for reminding me. As for the edge connectors, I found a place in the States at just under $3 per, while the one I saw (from China) were $0.50. Yes cheaper but I thought they would do the job until I never received them, but did get reimburse by EBay. Since I need about 60, therefore $180, I'll just solder the wires directly to the tortoises unless I can find some other ones.

Thanks chet, what's coming next might take a while. Besides working on 2-4 other buildings, not much until my wife moves her office from the basement to the first floor, which should be end of June. At that point, I'll be working on the second half of the layout plus the helix.

Thanks David and sirfoldalot, much appreciated
