I started putting some trestle bents together so when my plaster work and scenery is ready , the trestle will be ready to install . It sure looked a lot easier in LynnB 's and HOexplorers threads .

Nothing like a jig for making up multiples and a real one of those engine houses would make a great layout building.

Toot , not sure I follow the "real one " comment about the engine house . Do you mean one made out of wood?

No, not the model (unless someone wants a model of a model RR'd). I meant a real, as in prototype (real is less typing than prototype, and now I have typed too much )

Looking great Jim, you must be feeling alot more comfortable about mountains. Nice to see a trestle happening as well.

still needs more work , but I need to test fit it first before going any farther and that will require more plaster work first.

Jim,

WOW! Great job on the trestle, and a curved one at that - I am seriously impressed. Might be time for me to buy some timber and start building mine as well.

Jim your trestle looks great. The more detailing you do with timber the better it will look.

Thanks guys.

Lynn , I still hope to put in a lot of cross bracing but I thought I should check for fit before I went much further . I already made a mistake on it when I first started . I quickly found out that I had to build backwards from the way I had my dimensions written down. Lucky for me the bent that was in the wrong place was still wet so I could move it without a bunch of hassle .

I got the trestle fitted into the canyon . It fits fairly good . I was wanting this trestle to look like the bents were set into the rock bottom so I will have to do a bit of filling in a couple spots . It is a good thing that I test fit it first , before starting on the rock work . I found that I did not have as much room behind it as I thought I was going to have.

I think you need two more bents and some planking to hold back the earth. One bent on each end and for the planking you can build a short bent into it.
