Skippycamper after seeing the post from Ken I got to thinking ( as I too am guilty of the paper thing) wouldn;t the paper just dry up?

Looking real good for a first layout. The paper will sink after a while. I use screen material that you can get from most hardware stores. Once the hardshell dries, any supporting material, be it cardboard, paper cardboard or whatever can be removed from underneath if you have access.

It looks good skippycamper. I can only echo the sentiments of others regarding the paper/cardboard etc. I also would use some other means of support such as has been suggested.

Why would paper smell after drying up? It's never been a problem on my layouts. Looks like a great start, practice makes perfect. Read up on how others do it and use YouTube too.

The rock you made (not the commercial wall) shows great technique, it looks like glacier-scrubbed surfaces. I like the contrast of bare and foliage. The mountain will look quite impressive. Extremely tall verticals dwarf the trains, having the side effect of making them look smaller and their route longer.

awesome thanks :)

I have a feeling I'll end up painting the mountain multiple times. I just cant quite figure out a proper color scheme
