Thanks Deacon....good idea, I hadn't thought of that....picnic tables are now on the AFE list. I think I've got the greenery covered, I just got a couple of deliveries of landscaping materials.....

Meanwhile, on the north end of the yard is the roundhouse with fuel pad. (It is still called a roundhouse even though there isn't a turntable, the function remains the same.) Here again a Walthers plastic kit.
Prepping the pad. Originally three tracks into the building and one track alongside, I wanted another track alongside, so I modified the pad to accommodate another track.
Modifications completed, ready to paint the cork. The wood on the left side of the tank is the base for the sand house. The track and switch closest to the isle are new, not in the original track plan.
I filled all seams and cracks, sanded everything smooth, hit it with brown paint.
Installing the concrete pads in the interior. I used .025-.030 styrene (I believe) with spacers underneath, so the styrene was near flush with the top of the rail.
All of the concrete installed. Can you find the gap in the concrete in one place? I had a piece for that, but lost it, so I need to make a new one....
The fuel pad installed. I painted black along the rails, so when the track screens are installed, you won't see the grey plastic under the edges of the screens. The white dots are where I filled the holes from the track feeder wires. I'll add the pad details after ballasting and anything else that needs done so they don't get broken.....

Starting to apply ground cover. The lighter material is from Perez, and then of course the rest is red cinder.
In the above picture, the near track (cab track) & controlling switch I added as an afterthought, after all the track work and controls were done. There is a lot going on under the bench work, so I opted to control this switch with the over-center spring wire.
All the frogs are powered, so without a switch controller to swap polarity, a toggle switch had to suffice, far right.
The cab toggle & numbered toggle switches kill the power to the appropriate track, starting at the isle, proceeding towards the wall.
Hard to get it to show, but I tested three different alcohol stains on the cinders for a weathering affect. From Besttrains, I have black, murky brown, aged barn wood. This is only one application. Left line, aged barn wood, center, murky brown, right line, black.
Black looks really good for oil spillages, brow & barn wood would be good for other areas with a combination of applications.

Meanwhile, over on the creek/bridge part of the layout, landscaping for the creek.......
Here is the last pic I posted of the creek....
I removed the boulders, they were just sitting there, and covered everything with #10 Perez ground cover.......
Wrecked bridge...... (I made it pretty beat up!)
I haven't vacuumed up the access yet, I plan on doing that today....... Happy Modeling!

On the end of the peninsula is the sawmill, and on the other side if the view block, is the cinder pit. Can't have all this red cinder ballast with out a pit. It's been at this stage for several months now.....
Three cars are about all I can comfortably get on the spur track. The more cars to load means the cat has to push even further to feed the shovel...
The Cat is a GHQ models all metal kit. Youtuber Matt from Diesel Creek, ironically pulled one of these out of the brush to save at the same time I was putting this together. Right now silver man is at the controls.
The Erie steam shovel is a Vintage Vehicle all plastic kit that I've had since 2017-18. Bill Brillinger of Precision design made the Tionesta decals.
The tracks were a bugger on this thing...relatively fragile......

Here are a couple pics of some simple tools that I use, just doing a kind of refresh on them for those that may not have seen them before....
The Car Holder Tool......A piece of 1x1 aluminum angle cut down on one end as shown.
A couple pieces of dowel, clamp & flat stock and you can make a holder for the instruction sheet.
This will keep them above the workbench clutter, easier to read.....
A great help for things that are painted or glued is this hanger, if you can't lay things down...... Hanging there now is some of the line for the Water tank project, trying to get it straightened out, the best it will go.....which isn't that much......
The tool I use the most, by far, is this glue applicator of a piece of .015 tension wire in a pin vice.....
