An LMX "Shark" emerges from the east portal of Mullan Tunnel, west of Helena, MT, probably in April of 1995. The LMX B39-8Es were often referred to as sharks because of the white triangle on the side, sort of like a shark fin.
Yes, that's right. I don't know the name of nearest town, or the address town which is being used for that location. The place has an incredible collection of diesels, rivaling that of many museums.
A CN Gp40-2L is waiting for permission on the paper mill lead track. CN 9433 is helping on the Wisconsin River Valley Terminal RR today as the Wisconsin Interstate fleet is busy. 2 Gp40-2l’s are on their way to the Denver Terminal Railway Co and then to Greeley, Colorado for the freelance gathering at the Prototype Modelers Meet on 9/27 and 9/28.
This reminds me of when fishing in the ocean. And you reel in a fish you just caught,
and the only thing left is the head because a shark just tried to eat the fish on your hook.
I really like how colorful these locomotives are.
I'm also still searching for the Hudson and Delaware (blue, silver, yellow) one. in HO scale. I's one of my favorite locomotives.
Former Butte Anaconda and Pacific GP9 #106 sits in Butte, MT sometime in the 1990s. I remember taking the photo but don't remember the circumstances. The railroad is now BNSF and there's probably a SD70MAC sitting here.
Bonus shot, my model of Rarus 106 from an Athearn GP9 and also from the late 1990s. I noticed when I was resizing the photo, half the uncoupling bar is gone. It's been in a box most of the last 22 years since the layout I used it on was dismantled. I did all the stripes with tape and paint, I remember it took several hours to mask out the stripes.
